Description Erotic Earth Rey
Copic marker and colored pencil on bristol
2016

Rey from Star Wars The Force Awakens, EE-style!  Unfortunately, I accidentally started this one on bristol instead of my normal bleed proof paper, which means the quality of the work suffered a great deal.  Duh!

Edit: It occurred to me that this pic technically violates dA's policy regarding the depiction of phallic sex toys, so I did a quick censoring and re-uploaded it before some Lawful-Stupid yahoo tries to get me banned.  You can see the uncensored version on my Hentai-Foundy page: www.hentai-foundry[DOT]com/pictures/user/TCatt/401001/Erotic-Earh-Rey (to view, copy and paste the URL and replace "[DOT]" with a period -dA won't even let me post a Hentai Foundry URL, linked or otherwise).

Hmmm, the artwork doesn't suffer that much for using the wrong paper. I'll have to HF it then...

It came out okay, it's just not as sharp as I would have preferred as bristol is a rougher surface that tends to bleed a little.

I try to make a couple of posts a year.  I'm hoping to find the time to do a pinup of Rey as well.  I also have several other characters I want to give the EE treatment to.

I thought that BB-8 is female ...

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

TCatt In reply to barbarossarotbart [2016-01-25 05:14:19 +0000 UTC]

BB-8 is not humanoid and has no gender, so they can take that "BB-8 is female" shit and shove it somewhere uncomfortable.  I gave BB-8 a special attachment because it already looks like a didlo-ball and because I though it was funny.

Sorry, but BB-8's body may not be humanoid and genderless but its programming is definitely female.

TCatt In reply to barbarossarotbart [2016-01-27 07:41:22 +0000 UTC]

Was this ever confirmed by someone with the authority to confirm it?  Because, I saw no indication of that at all in the movie (any more than I ever saw R2-D2 acting particularly masculine).  I read a bunch of rumors before the film came out that BB-8 was going to be "female,", but I saw no official confirmation of that by any credible source, nor do I recall anyone referring to the droid with female pronouns in the movie.  If they did, it didn't stand out enough for me to notice. The only reason we think of R2-D2 as "male" is because he's referred to as "he" throughout the movies, and that's likely because of the "masculine preferred" rule in English grammar.  I assume this is something you're familiar with, but if you're not, here's an interesting article about it: www.gillikinconsulting.com/201…  Basically, it says that if the gender of a subject is unknown (or in this case, inapplicable) that subject should be referred to using masculine syntax.  While this rule specifically applies to language, I feel that it tends to apply to the psychology behind anthropomorphism as well (indeed, one has likely influenced the other).  In other words, when we assign human traits to something that has no inherent human form (such as animals or fictional ball-shaped robots) we tend to default to the male sex in our minds because English tells us to default to male gender in our language ("gender" being defined as a matter of language, rather than one's role in reproduction, which is one's "sex").

Now, because our society's attitudes towards perceived gender roles has changed over the last couple of decades, it's my understanding that the "masculine preferred" rule is becoming somewhat controversial, but because I was raised and educated in the late 70's and 80's, I tend to fall back on it.  If something is inherently gender-neutral, I want to refer to it in the masculine, and, as such, I tend to anthropomorphize as male until I have a reason to do otherwise.  I recognize, however, that this sense of gender/sex-assignment is technically false (even if it is grammatically correct), and, thus, I try to avoid it until given a reason not to.  For instance, TC-14, the silver protocol droid that serves drinks to Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan in the opening scene of The Phantom Menace looked physically male (and was played by a male, I believe), but spoke English with a female voice.  As such, I accepted that character as "female," despite her complete lack of female physical traits.  Apparently, our brains tend to accept vocal cues over visual cues (which is why a man with a high pitched voice will often seem feminine to us, no matter what he looks like).  BB-8 has no sexual traits at all, physical or otherwise.  It's a sphere with a half-sphere attached to the top of it that "speaks" in electronic beeps and sound-effects.  It doesn't have a sexual form, a sexed voice, or any other indication of sex, so unless J.J. Abrams, or someone else with authority to declare such things (which would include movie dialog) has specifically said "BB-8 is female," I have no reason to assume it as true.

You are right. I looked up BB-8 in the Wookieepedia and read there that it's programming is masculine...

That actually surprises me a little.  I did't know a definitive answer had been made.  Did it cite a source on that one?

According to the notes and references on the page the movie itself is the source.

Bristol board.  It's a type of stiff drawing paper, kind of like a really thin cardboard  It's great for pencils, but lousy for Copics.  en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bristol_…

Is the Catthouse still around too?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

TCatt In reply to binary-beetle [2016-01-27 07:44:55 +0000 UTC]

No.  CattHouse Studios died several years ago when everyone except myself and Oni quit simultaneously (Creecher had unofficially quit years before, he just never really bothered to tell anyone).  Since two people does not a studio make, we closed the whole thing down.  The website remained until it just failed one day, likely because no one had paid the site host in years.  I still maintain ownership of the Domain, however.  A more detailed explanation can be found in the mini-FAQ on my dA page.  Just click on my furry little face.

I could never hit the deadlines for the contests in the past.

No deadlines now, just a group posting art for fun.  Only a tiny handful of people still actively participate.  Everything else that gets posted is "accidental EE" stuff.

"items which are crafted to realistically represent a phallus or "receptive" vagina are not allowed. Items and devices which do not depict a male or female organ in a realistic fashion will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis for acceptability in a submission"

Apparently, as long as it doesn't look like a real one, it's okay. So... add bumps?

I'm with Chaos Wolf. There are lots of drawn phallus images here that don't get bounced. It usually only applies to actual people, with actual toys, in photos.

TCatt In reply to HarmoneeJC [2016-01-24 01:43:11 +0000 UTC]

Thanks.  It's a little rough, compared to my usual work.  Bristol doesn't handle the markers well and has a tooth to it, so the line work isn't as crisp.  That leads to detail issues, like her fat thumb.
