My feel from this picture is:
Void of feeling, void of purpouse of devotion of everything
This man functions like an automatom doing stuff he does not realy cares about and in these little moments he has time to reflect on all of the things he have done even if he does not remember it entirely
Either way he will return to this soulless existance because there is nothing left to to

And a good one. A good picture should raise many questions. Like 'Why that particular facial expression', 'What happened', and 'Who was the corpse he is sitting on?'

In total, it's inspiring to see emotions other than hate and rage coming from chaos, in comparison to the imperial forces, who know only hate, rage and loathing.
Chaos actually gets depressed now and then, and it makes me like them more.
I don't really get the totalitarian Empire.

Hm, agree with you here. Well in Imperiums case it's more of a superhero "I'm fighting teh good fight FOR TEH EMPRAH!" cliche, but yeah. It's all people. Even in 41st millenium no one's an unbreakable steel pillar, and I actually don't like such flat chars/outlook.
And Chaos is all human emotions, not only the bad ones, just the strong ones - so why can't it be about sadness, or hope, or anything else?))

On that same subject, 'Hope' being one of the eschewed emotions of 40k is precisely what makes GRIMDARK so interesting to me.
What is the suplication to the chaos gods but grasping at hope in the form of gods embodying feelings that your own culture forbids.
...But aside from that, BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD! SKULLS FOR THE SKULL THRONE!
