Hack Job 1.0 was a 3-pound (Beetleweight) combat robot that I built in Fall, 2016 for a competition with my college's robotics club. The return of the popular fighting robots series 'BattleBots' inspired the creation of our club and its members build 1 & 3 pound machines. We even had one of our students join team SubZero for BattleBots, Season 2 (ABC)! We also have a student who has already fought 60-pound Lightweights at RoboGames, which was a very large and popular open non-televised, but livestreamed robotics competition that included multiple weight classes and even many forms of non-combat competitions. Sadly, this event has since been discontinued.
