I never really understood the appeal of Carnage, i mean, whenever he's around the writing always seems to be lacking, but i guess it's tough to write something inspirational about a character who's sole purpose is to kill kill kill.
I suppose it's really that simplicity that makes him such a cool character. Plus he seems a little realistic in that manner. i mean, of all the super villains he's the only one that never has a plan, just chaos. Even the joker has his intricate plans to get to batman, but Carnage is just pure masocism.

I haven't read too many Carnage stories, but visually this is right on the money!

hmm, i'm sure you're right to an extent. That said, i think the best writers could write a very good story for him. For me, he's more like a Batman-type villain and could be used for the more psychological/darker stories. Like 'The Death of Jean DeWolff' . I may just check out some old stories to see if this was ever done.

Well, i love carnage, because of his chaotic mind. but lets say you compare him to the joker.
Joker has a goal. his insanity is linked to destroying batman, and because of such, he makes plans. he can walk down a street and do minimal damage to get the attention he wants.
carnage will walk down a street and kill everyone. destroy everything, and scream and laugh the whole way through. not caring who try's to stop him, and not even thinking about such things.
because he doesn't care about anything, it's hard to relate and care about him. Though he looks cool, and is a very interesting character, his unique outlook is only unique because dc doesn't want to create something like that. DC likes to go in depth with every single character in their universe.
and thats why i think carnage writers suffer when delt with writing about him.

yeah that actually makes a lot of sense.. Carnage seems pretty aimless, and that does make him a bit 2D compared to the Joker etc. i agree that the challenge of Joker is more psychological, but i think that's because the DC writers took the chance to explore the depths of his character, and now the way we perceive him is different because of it. I wonder if some great writer would take the same chance with Carnage, his perception would also change?

well that is true. cause he doesn't have so much going for him, a good writer could add in whatever.

I liked the colored one, and this one is cool too.

I'd suppose that if Carnage's sole purpose is to destroy things, it kinda means his personality has no depth.

nope, practically none what so ever. but its in all that chaos that it allows him to stand out as a character. after all, he was the first to go all out like that, and i find that gives him a certain charm over other villains.
