  “I-I’ve been afraid to say this,” Teddy started, her eyes avoided Synthetic’s. “But it uh, it needs to be said.”
  “Alright, what’s up Ted?” Synthetic asked.
  “Whenever…whenever I’m near you, whenever we speak I-I,” She pauses trying to find the right words. “I love it. A lot. And I want to be near you, I want to talk with you f-for hours even if it’s complete nonsense but I, I would still love it. I want to be held by you, and I know… I know I’m not what you want, o-or what you need but I don’t want to be without you…”
  “I love o-our friendship, value it more then anything but I-I want more. I may sound selfish but I want a h-happy ending. I want you… I-I love you.” Teddy finishes, her eyes still not looking at him. Her cheeks burned and her hair covered her face.
  “Oh.” Synthetic whispered. He was shocked but reached his hand out to cup her cheek. He directed her attention to him and they looked each other in the eye. “I love you too…” She was shocked by this. She noticed him leaning down and froze, her heart fluttering as he leaned closer to her.

  She then, woke up.

  “Synthetic?!” That was her first word when she woke up. She was leaning against a tree, Synthetic resting next to her.
  “Yeah Ted?” He asked, not moving. She felt her cheeks heat up, her heart fluttering. Had the dream actually happened? Did he really love her?
  “Is i-it true?” She asked. Confused, the boy looked at her.
  “Is what true?” She stiffened. Had it never happened?
  “Do you l-love me?” She whispered, her little confidence evaporating into the air along with her words.
  “Yeah Ted,” He smiled. “You’re my best friend, of course I love you.”
  Her heart deflated. They were only friends.
  “Oh.” She looked down at her lap.
  “Something wrong?”
  “No, everything i-is just great,” Tears pinched at her eyes. There was no happy ending for her. There was no love anymore. “Buddie…”
