Description
A group project done for our drawing class. it measures 2 by 2 metres done on charcoal paper. Fazrullah, Traseone Adelinee and me collaborated on this one. We sort of let everyone have their own opinion on how to do this project. After all the ideas were put on our initial sketches we just put them together.
Each had their own say on how the piece should be done. Traseone would mastermind all the spray painting on the piece, Adelinee would do the trees, Fazrullah the mountain and i was in charge of the sky and part of the foliage.
After the outline was laid out we all worked on the different parts of the piece. The mountain was done first. We took reference on Mt. Rushmoore and snapped pictures of our heads in the same position as the 4 presidents featured on the mountain. After thats done, we just worked on each others faces and kept on touching up till we got the desired finish.
The trees were done by sponging. We mixed the paints on the paper itself to best mimic the different coloured leaves on the trees. The trunks were made dark and dull to keep the focus on the brighter parts of the picture and to create the perspective element of the piece.
The sky was done with pastel with the clouds spray painted on. The whole piece has at least some bits of spray paint on it to give the, for example ,the yellow hue of the leaves, the freckled clusters on the mountain and ,as mentioned, the clouds.
The pathway was originally sprayed gray, but it looked too plain and sort of gave the illusion of water, so we decided to turn it into a dirt path. This was simple as all we had to do was brush on brown with inklings of yellow on the foreground.
