Late Bloomer, dressed to go out in the world.I'm working on a homebrewed D&D fourth edition Chakat race (hey, I made the 3.5 one, so I might as well retain my title; Bernard Doove created the Chakats, but I put them into D&D terms). I've got the mechanics about worked out (need to post them on the Wizards forum boards for feedback), but this time I'm going to try to work on the fluff myself and not just leave it up to the individual campaign of whoever uses them (need to ask Snakeman for his input).
And I put the race (both crunch and fluff) on GITP and Enworld...
You wouldn't believe how many people get upset over an apparently improper usage of the word "furry" when it is SO NOT THE POINT!

You did, but unfortunately I was still unsatisfied (not with your level of participation, but with the end product of my efforts).
I had been working with Chakat-Shadowsand here on DA, but since he doesn't play RPGs, his suggestions were not given with the understanding of making a race as true to Mr. Doove's concept while in a pseudo-medieval setting and made playable for players. Not to mention this was my last semester of college and I had to put all my efforts on the backburner.
We did manage to hammer out that it might behoove me to bring the origin story closer to the original (race made by humans, as opposed to "superimposed on pre-existing humans"), but I'm still working on it.

You know how one of the secrets of finding a working text is to start over and rewrite?
Well, I'm rewriting the whole thing (right now, I'm working on the revised "Playing a Chakat" part). I'll probably post it here first (instead of the D&D forums). That way, maybe we can get a three-way conversation going between Chakat Shadowsand, yourself, and myself (heck, I might even invite Chakat Goldfur). Look for that towards the middle to end of this week.

Sounds reasonable. It would be interesting to see Goldie's input. Maybe if I get lucky I could even bugger Quickpaw for a tidbit or two (sometimes we're both on YIM)
