Hale asks what she needs to be a ninja and is told she must have the following: a headband, those open-toed boots that they wear, a thigh-pouch for kunai knives, and a vest with scroll pockets. So now she's beginning to have suspicions.

The second joke here is that with this getup and her natural colors (red hair, and brown fur, lighter on the torso and the face), Hale begins to look a lot like Princess Sally Acorn from the Sonic the Hedgehog SatAM cartoon.

Which is why Dr. Robotnik ( his name is Robotnik, not Eggman; get it right!) is there with the rest of anime's great not-so-greats.
