The lights were too bright for most anyone to actually see clearly. Shio squinted in the light as he yawned and put a hand up above his eyes. He shook his head as he walked into the shining room and looked up at the statue and sign that read, “No Gods or Kings. Only Man.” Shio shrugged as he stepped in and looked at his mom dad and sister. He laughed to himself as he watched his sister sneeze a few times. He walked forward some as he looked down and watched as a bathysphere slowly came up from the depths. He thought for a second as he turned around and looked at his dad.
“We aren’t going underwater are we? There’s nothing down there to live with or in.” asked Shio as he watched his parents and sister on their way down the stairs to the bathysphere. He sighed as he ran to catch up with them. He never liked the water. The thought of living in it made him shiver. He walked up to the large bronze bathysphere and shook as he looked for his parents. They were standing next to the wall speaking to some other family that seemed to be going down to this underwater city. He looked around as his eye immediately caught the sight of someone. Beautiful coffee brown hair that fell to about her shoulder blades and beautiful eyes to match. His mouth dried up at once as he began to walk over to her, only to be stopped by a voice coming from the bathysphere.
“A new world awaits you in just a few minutes. Please board the bathysphere and prepare for decent.” Shio waved it off as he walked over to the girl and tripped at once. He lay there as he cursed under his breath and shook his head. He looked up as he saw her giggling and holding out a hand. He took it as he stood up and looked at her.
“Thanks for that. I’m Shio by the way.” He said as he looked at her and grinned. She smiled back at him as he dusted himself off and offered to bring her things in.
“I’m Sara. Nice to meet you Shio. So I guess you’re going to Rapture too?” she asked as they stepped into the bathysphere and waited for their parents to come in.
“Yeah sadly. I haven’t heard of this place at all.” Answered Shio as he sat down and made some room for her.
“My parents and most of my family tell me that it’s a great place. Compared to everything that’s been going on on the surface. Half of my family has already moved down there and from what they’ve told me, it’s supposed to be really great.” Answered Sara as everyone got into the bathysphere and the door shut. A projection appeared on the door as they descended even further down into the depths of the sea. Both Shio and Sara spoke for about an hour about everything as they finally reached Rapture. A beautiful city underneath the sea. He laughed as he looked over at Sara and nodded, imagining what their life down here will be like.
