Description
"I can see me dying nearly every single dayI can see me sinking to the bottom of a lake
I think about the million ways my luck has disappeared
I think of how whatever's on my trail is getting near
and then think I think of you
I think of you
and from the chaos
comes something new
I can see me crushing under thoughts of what's to come
I wonder if I got a soul no one could ever want
I think of losing everything and living in the street
I think of how the bad I've done is closing in on me
and then I think of you
I think of you
and from the chaos
comes something new"--Galaxies Rearranging by The Distortions

How anyone can let such great old cars rot away like that is beyond me.
Lovely shot!

There are hundreds of them like this just wasting away in the junkyard! However, the old man makes a lot of money off them, believe it or not. He sells parts all over the world to people who are restoring other old cars. It's a really neat place.
Thank you!

How long have they been there?

TerrorCookie In reply to parliamentFunk [2008-08-15 04:50:05 +0000 UTC]
Well, the man is in his '70s now, and his dad is the one who started it. So they've been been collecting those cars for at least 50 years, I think.

It's gotta be longer than that. Those cars looked like they were from the 20's to 30's.

My grandpa said that most of them are from the '40s.

I love old cars, I love worn-down places, and the two have been combined beautifully in this photo! I really like the bleak tones of color and how you can faintly see other cars that have met the same fate in the distance. Nice shot!

I need to watch it again, but there is this scene where the car goes underwater?
It reminds me of that.

my apologies for the late commentary...
this reminds me a lot of the kind of things my ex, rachel, used to photo. i always loved them, and in general have always had a fascination with the decay of the manmade, and the way nature takes root wherever it can and takes over, left to its own devices. like it always brings a smile to my face when i see a flower growing out of a crack in the pavement...

Don't apologize. The fact that you took the time to comment at all is wonderful of you!
I love seeing that too. Nature eventually swallows things up if given the chance to, albeit slowly. It's an amazing thing.
Thank you.

This is wonderful! It reminds me of my Uncle's place. He's got old, broken down cars everywhere. I really like how... eerie it feels... The pale colours work really well with the concept. A lovely shot

There's an old man who owns the lot. It's filled with hundreds of cars wasting away. He actually sells the parts to people all over the world. I think he works through eBay.
