But there was a part in the game in which every single time I took down an opponent, she would react like that. All. The. Time.

Because she's fourteen years old, and when you're that young, you're still emotionally vulnerable enough that the sight of that sort of violence is really, really scarring. Add on top that she's personally in danger and probably feels utter relief every time a fight is over, you can well understand her strangled exclamations.

Nice little comic. Though, I actually understands Ellie's reactions even though have not played this game(seriously need to, but don't got the game console for it). Some people take time to come to terms with seeing people getting killed before them. Some never get used to it, some do get used to it. However, it does make you question your morals when you realize the possibly reasons for Ellie's reactions and possibly your own lack of reactions in the game.

Oh yes, I understand her too and I do realise that this treats a pretty serious subject in the game which is what i love most about it - everything that happens has emotional consequences for the characters.
I do believe that indifference is our biggest crime, and it is true that violence-and-gore-packed films and video games de-sensitise us a lot more than they should.
However, this comic is meant to just be poking some fun at a moment in the game in which Ellie repeats the same 4 expressions over and over again.

I understand, but still... They do realize that narrative is for a game? There's a reason there's a meme for what would happen if you ended up stuck in old games. It's kind of why games have shot up in memory size as they been adding a whole lot more voice and line data to ensure better replay value.
