Thx, glad you like.
Sounds good, hoping to see some screenshots from u then
Well, any DE offers to put panels on the top of your screen,
this sure can be done with kde, or any other DE. This is
not plasma however.

Absolutely nice! And if you always speak about "Mac-cloning", what I do
not understand because none of your scrots look like a Mac clone.
You are certainly very inspired by Mac OS but in many details you are already
one step ahead. The only thing I don't is the brushed look in the
complete window background. But there are so many other excellent details...
Pure uniqueness!
And happy easter if you celebrate easter!

Well, as I've said many times: I will never create
a 1:1 100% accurate aqua clone, but, what I do, is
clone mac.
The elements are basically the same as mac: connected
toolbar buttons, brushed metal background, colors...
...so the overall look is very much mac, even if I'm
not directly making a 1:1 clone of every widget, it's
still cloning... or copying.
Deviantart is pretty much the only site where one can
clone mac this way and everybody thinks it's cool.
Anywhere else and you'll create a flamewar
Thx for the kind words tho man, glad you like it.
And yes, I celebrate easter, I come from a christian
home

I know that you do that! But what you do is good things
make better and this is more than cloning! In the computer
area anyway looks everybody to the other.
There is no more reinventing the wheel.
I like the people here much more than elsewhere
because they are much nicer.
So then have some great days with your family!

Yes, that's true, however, if something is
too close to something that is patented, not
enough to get you in legal trouble, but enough
to make a bad name for yourself... and that's
pretty much what I'm doing
Yeah the people here are kind, and mostly,
older then 14 That is the main problem
at opendesktop IMO.
Yeah hopefully I will, my wife has the flu
or something atm.

You mean something you haven't already think of?! NO
I see only three options though, tweaking the window background so that inlay buttons look OK on it, changing the shape of buttons or changing the inlay effect related part of the Bespin code to get what you want. You're the master and know what to do better than almost anyone else

I just used the same "carving" gradient as for the
toolbuttons. looks like them now, which is good,
since it looks better, and bad, because now buttons
and toolbuttons look too much alike But I just use
less roundness on the normal buttons, then it's okey.
I don't know, I really prefer the horizontal gradient
on windows with a brushed metal overlay, so I'm not
gonna change that for a while I guess.
Oh, and I'm definitely no master, is just, the real
masters despise mac cloning so I have to do it myself

You chose the best solution, I'm waiting for a new deskshot then
By the way, the brushed window background is a little too dark, just my taste though.

Yeah that's something I can never get quite right.
While lighter bg's might look sleeker the contrast
between views and windowbg gets worse. Also, I like
quite much contrast here. My window bg is always
somewhere between c and e eg. (C0C0C0 or EFEFEF).
Right now closer to c0 then e0... but always somewhere
between those. Unless ofc I have a dark "inverted"
look.
I set it to CCCCCC now, it's a little lighter but
not too light... what is your preference here then?

After playing a little around with Bespin I now say that nothing lighter than CCCCCC looks good!

Pyruzan In reply to Th3R0b [2012-04-06 19:45:46 +0000 UTC]
I can't exactly tell unless I test different values and see for myself, but it should be between CCCCCC and D2D2D2.
I don't think the contrast between viewbg and windowbg would be a problem since you can set the viewbg value up to FFFFFF.
Instead of making the windowbg lighter you can also increase the windowbg gradient intensity.

Th3R0b In reply to Pyruzan [2012-04-06 21:37:15 +0000 UTC]
viewbg is always white (there is a lot of hardcoded
shit flowing around so be careful if you change that,
maybe for some presets on some apps you know work but
not otherwise, not smart).
I just prefer quite a lot of contrast actually, I know
most deviants prefer very little contrast as that usually
looks slickest. However, that is not as usable. as
views are the actual content and windowbg is just
chrome. So the meaning of having white (or visually
attention drawing) views is to put focus there, as
there stuff is happening.
That was the idea behind vistas aero interface also,
to have the window part transparent and have the view
catch focus.... windows explorer is a good example
of this.
Anyways, as I said, I change this around all the
time..... back and forth from e something to c
something. I've yet to find the optimal value
here

Hey Rob,
You've raised my expectations so high that I expect nothing less than perfect from you
The buttons do not look right to me, that inlay effect around them seems a little out of place (unlike toolbar icons/buttons which look perfect). Overally it looks great though.
And that Kopete chat window style is marvellous

Hi Pyruzan,
Glad you like it, well, as for the buttons, to have an
successful carve effect it needs to be on a vertical
gradient, this is on a horizontal, things get difficult.
(windows are lighter in the middle and darker on sides)
On the toolbar, it's a stronger gradient then the sunken
gradient... that's why it works better there.
Any ideas on how to fix this?

Nice config, the RAW Paste Data with :
[BespinStyle]
StoreName=gray
ARGB.Blacklist=,...
and more...
Most be included on the gray.bespin?

Th3R0b In reply to Elchacmool [2012-04-06 07:25:11 +0000 UTC]
Just scroll down to RAW Paste Data and place
the cursor there where you can edit the text, press
Ctrl+A, Ctrl+C and then in a new kate windows Ctrl+V,
then save as gray.bespin. Yeah, that whole thing is
the config file.

Well thank you, however, that is not the case, Apple
have spent a lot of money developing the style and
probably have a team of a lot of people working on it.
However, I must say, I liked the tiger style best
They had brushed metal, cool slick buttons and whatnot...
...now it's more minimal :-/

Yes that is totally true,
They did such an awesome job on it too, Yeah I liked that style too it blew windows away back then and still does I think in appearance.

their products look good.
