I'm not sure yet what to craft with this peacock feather, but whatever it is going to be, you can be certain about one thing: the materials I use for crafting are all 100% free from animal cruelty!

Just like I stated in my bio on the first day as a deviant, I'm a veganist, a lifestyle form between veganism and vegetarism (as close to vegan as possible, but I know where my limits are, so I have to take a vegetarian way without animal abuse in those cases).

Therefore, I sometimes use feathers and shells (snails and mussels) for crafting, yes, but exclusively those that are deriving straight from nature - shells from the lake shore I live close to and feathers that are naturally lost in flight, by birds who obviously don't have a problem with me taking them from the ground afterwards.

Okay, so far, so well, but this is clearly not the feather of a wild bird, since peacocks don't live in Germany's wildlife, right?

Usually, we only get peacock feathers after they were plucked out of the living, feeling or even already murdered victim's body in a bird farm.
But I have luck - just like some special individuals, who were blessed to be rescued:

My neighbor, Mr. Huber, spends almost all of his money on buying peacocks (males and females) free from bird farms that are willing to take his offer.
His complete garden and two-thirds of his house are upgraded to one large peacock enclosure for his "babies" to be safe in-and-outdoor, with enough space to avoid territorial struggles or accidental incest.

In a loving, caring home, a peacock can (just like chickens and a lot of other, bigger birds as well as sheep, cows, pigs, etc.) achieve an age of about 20 years - Mr. Huber's first adopted male, Caesar, died this summer (June 2020, as he told me) at an old age of most likely 23 years, given that the documents from his cruel birth place were correctly written.
His brother Tristan (mentioned him before in another description: www.deviantart.com/thanasianig…) one year ago at an age of ~22 years, according to the said papers with their official D-O-B.

Anyway, he lives with his peacocks like they'd be his own children and just like parents tend to keep and store milk teeth of their kids or make foot and hand prints of their toddlers in plaster for the memories, he picks up feathers lost in the moult or during a bird bath (and sometimes lets a single birdy walk thru a thin layer of clay as well to save the talon prints, before gently cleaning the tiny feet again).

Well, that's then the point where I'm lucky - he's not a crafter, so he doesn't have a real use for the feathers and I can ask for a few Euros (or sometimes for free, hehehe...) to get some of the best pieces that would go otherwise to other crafters on one of the local flea markets.

I'm so sorry for the endlessly long story ... but this is just too worth telling it to the world!
