Well, I don't know about you but if Jeremie told me to run I'd run... Lol
It's been years and I still hold true my opinion of William. Just like I blame XANA partially for Jeremie and Aelita not getting together, bc he totally interrupted a confession or two. Now I'm a lot rustier on my CL facts than I used to be, but I do remember that to be true because I was infuriated.
As far as William is concerned though, he was a very headstrong and frustrating character, regardless of how he may or may not have affected Ulrich and Yumi's relationship. But that's just my opinion. XD

"Jeremie told me to run I'd run..." Good point, but William is both brave and stupid: He would feel like a coward if he chose to listen to Jérémie. And William want to be useful, so...Not running was expected from him. And William may have interrupted many confessions, but I also blame Ulrich and Yumi. In "Routine", we all know they almost kissed, but the return to the past prevented this...WHAT PREVENTED THEM TO CONFESS ONCE THEY HAD THE OCCASION??? I mean, they could have confessed right after, but nooo. But it's my opinion.

I concede, however that doesn't dilute the fact that he was one arrogant SOB who can't listen to- literally- save his life. XD
With that being said, however, I just decided to revisit this deviation and oh my god this was made in 2009 and I rage typed about William in a heart font. I'm not sure how well I can defend this childish 7 year old opinion XD
But I still retain not liking the character. Less so for the Yumi/Ulrich thing now as an adult as much as I was so enraged about it watching this as a kid but I'm still mad about the whole destroying the core of Lyoko thing. Like really mean? Jeremie legit could see everything and has been doing this for quite some time now, why ya not gonna listen? I would.

Not that Aelita is better. If you have to run, ok. But then, try to run somewhere else than the DIGITAL SEA! And because of that, she was xanafied and destroyed the Forest Sector. And later, she destroyed the Desert Sector, almost destroyed the Ice Sector and ended the Mountain Sector's existence. In comparison, William destroyed only one sector...Not to forget that both of them did that unwillingly. And in "Down to Earth", when William was saved from XANA, he thought the Scyphozoa devirtualized him, meaning the Lyoko-warriors didn't told him everything.
Even if he was hotheaded in "Final Round", he was only a reason, not THE reason for his xanafication. There is plenty of others reasons:
X.A.N.A.: Nuff said.
His first mission was a professional mission, to protect Lyoko's core, not a simple one, like helping Aelita deactivate a tower.
Samantha: She is an INDIRECT reason. It's been a year since her last encounter with Odd. It's normal and understandable if she wants to spend more time with him.
The Lyoko-warriors: They did not train William, and they didn't completely filled him. William thought the Scyphozoa would devirtualize him, not xanafy him for 6 months. He only knew about three things: Lyoko, X.A.N.A. and it's monsters. And you know what's worse? THEY MADE A SIMILAR ERROR WITH LAURA!
Most of the Lyoko-warriors were unavailable (Jérémie was interviewed by Milly and Tamiya, Odd was spending time with Sam, Hiroki prevented Yumi from reaching the factory in time, and Ulrich was having an argument with his father. Only Aelita and William were available when X.A.N.A. attacked.).
