Notes: Photo consists of three photos of two Dai Li agents (made by me) pasted together using MS Paint. It is a fairly low-tech method but if it works, it works.

The-8-Elements, question:
If you were to give a person, who knows martial arts, to wear this cosplay costume and do some rapid martial arts movement? Would they be able to or it would rip?

I've done butterfly kicks in this costume before and it holds up fine. My robes have enough room to move and can accommodate various martial arts moves. The on problems I had were with the hat, which is hard to keep on if I move fast, and my lower robes, which can be a little tight if I take a wide horse stance.
Was there a particular martial arts movement you had in mind?

My apologies for not reading this much sooner and replying.
I'm interested in making a Dai Li Cosplay with full functional use with martial arts. Not just posing, but also do a couple seconds of martial art demonstration. I practice Hung-Ga the Earthbending style.

It's too bad you couldn't actually get six Dai Li agents/make six costumes. I would enjoy dressing as a Dai Li agent and walking around with a bunch of others.

Dai Li patrols are not really interesting, unless it was during the rule of Azula, then there might be something to watch.

I love those guys outfits! I have such a passionate love of all things oriental and yes I liked the cartoon when I fist saw the dai li.

I would have done a better job hiding the lines but the only photo-editing software I had at the time was MS Paint.
I was "security" for a little while at a convention. For some reason, the staff stopped the moving masquerade line right at us. We then decided to pretend that WE stopped the masquerade line. That was fun having the Dai Li hold up the entire line.

There really is a table of elements in Tai Chi Chuan and other Chinese energy manipulation practices. Was this based on that?

The picture you are commenting on is based on Avatar: the Last Airbender which in turn is influenced by Far Eastern Culture (this includes Tai Chi Chuan and energy manipulation).
