Before Birth
Fishkit and Beetlekit were practically enemies ever since they were born, the reason was for their complete opposite likes and dislikes. Fishkit was constantly disgusted with Beetlekit and it only grew worse when they were apprentices. When Fishkit had finished grooming herself Beetlepaw would find a puddle of mud and flick it at her. The two constantly bullied eachother, pushing eachother’s buttons to bug one another. When they were warriors they had a deep hatred for eachother. Over the moons after each one got an apprentice they grew wiser and didn’t have their young minds anymore. One day Fishstream was fishing quite far away when Beetlewatcher was on the shore, he felt something prick at his pelt, there was a feeling of something wrong, so when he looked out to the ocean he saw Fishstream and a dark figure circling around her. He called out to her but unfortunately she didn’t hear him, he paniced and ended up swimming to her despite him being terrible at swimming. Finally she heard him and saw the shark, she quickly swam towards shore with the shark on her tail, once she was in reach she got tired and didn’t have enough stamina to swim all the way to shore so he grabbed her scruff and swam to shore with his strong legs and saved her life. They apologized to each other for how they acted when they were apprentices and they became close after that. A quarter moon later he asked her to be his mate and she agreed. They were expecting kits not long after. A few days before the kits would be born Fishstream caught the sickness that had been going around the clan.

After Birth
The kits were born, two dead and one barely alive, instead of being estatic they were grieving over their lost kits that they had named Breezekit and Sneezekit. Not long after, the medicine cat came and told them that their only living kit probably wouldn’t make it through a week. Since Fishstream had the sickness she had to stay separated from her kit, and Saltkit had to drink milk from another queen that had recently given birth and had extra milk to spare. A few moons later when Saltkit was older, her mother got rid of the flu thanks to the medicine cat and got to see her daughter for the first time in moons. Saltkit was raised by her mother how to be proper and clean, but her dad also taught her to enjoy life. She grew into an apprentice and was extremely shorter than the rest of the apprentices, but eventually got her growth spurt.
Saltpaw met a narcissistic cat one day named Nightpaw, she wasn’t too fond of him at the time, she certainly liked the way he took care of his gorgeous fur though. When they went fishing for salmon, he helped her and she admired his strength and bravery, not knowing that some feelings had grown on her. They spent the day on the beach and she collected a seagull feather, which later she stored under her bedding as a memory. They came across two Roostclaners as they approached the border, Nightpaw, being an idiot, crossed the line without knowing. Saltpaw tried talking to the deputy (at the time) peacefully, but the deputy seemed bloodthirsty as she attacked Nightpaw. Triggered that she had hurt her friend/crush, she ran towards the cat without thinking clearly, slid under the high-rank’s stomach and raked her belly with her claws, saving Nightpaw’s butt. Over the period of time they spent together she got to know what her feelings meant, but was afraid to tell Nightpaw because he might friend zone her. Every night after she found out her feelings she stared at the feather, wishing for him to love her back. Then one day when they hung out they ended up play fighting on the beach and talking about their futures which got them both blushing after Salt said she might want to start a family. After their energy was burnt out, Saltpaw gave Nightpaw the feather she had kept for the longest time, which in result gave her the surprise of him confessing his feelings, she was so relieved that she could tell him the truth and licked his cheek, something she had always wanted to do. Since they were apprentices, they couldn’t be real mates, so they were pre-mates until the day came to their ceremony.
