The Price of Knowledge © The-Moonbound
I've been writing some on chapter six, and Odeyna was mentioned
Still considered a young demoness, Odeyna the Riftstalker occupies the 7th seat of the High Council. She is rarely present in the Shadow-Realm, always on the hunt for new worlds for the Shakra demons to make their own. She works closely with Elunya the Moonseeker, and together they spot and suggest new planets to the High Council. Odeyna serves as an ambassador of kinds and often visits these worlds in question before the Shakra strike, scouting out weaknesses to exploit and causing damage from within. Being as young as she is and already an important member of the High Council, Odeyna is arrogant for reasons deserved and imagined. Being her father's daughter, she is collected and cautious, confident in her skills, and always planning her next moves.
She was present when the Vanguard stopped at one of their colonies to refuel, and was badly injured by the force of rebels awaiting them. The High Pharaoh and his daughters appears to have been the main targets of the ambush, and where her sister Yveeta perished Odeyna stubbornly holds onto life, to the fret of the rebels. Depicted above, her injuries have healed except from the permanent loss of her eyes, supposedly melted in their sockets.

Holy hell she looks amazing! I love how all your demons are so different from each other. Let me tell you I am in love with her outfit and that staff, they are fantastically designed and I am so jealous of your creativity! It's amazing! And of course your shading is lovely as always. ^^

OH MY GODS she is so beautiful darling
I adore her pink hues and her gorgeous body shape
The familial resemblance is wonderful
Ah gahds that mane of hair is so perfect too sweetheart
Her staff is exquisitely done
Oh hellfire though her melted eyes sound so dreadful to go through :/ I would NOT want to be those rebels when she and her father catch up with them

Thank you so much I'm such a fan of pink, not even going to hide it lol, was so excited when I sat down and started coloring
XD Yay, I'm glad there's a resemblence between them
The staff was a bit of a pain to draw tbh, but I'm rather pleased with how it turned out and I'm glad you like it too
Indeed :/ I imagine it to be by some kind of fiery spell/weapon. I gave her a bit of scarring around the sockets, but it's mostly hidden by the blindfold, so I'm leaning more towards weapon than spell Heheheh me neither, those pesky Retharin, with too many arms and too little loyalty...

I don't blame you for being so ecstatic
I would be too
Oh my goodness sweetie I can understand it being overwhelming but Eee! You conquered the design like no ones business it looks incredible and so glad you stuck with it sweetie
Oh my gods that must have been dreadful for the poor girl :/ I saw the burn scars at the very edge of her blindfold and it was a wonderful though wincing-at-the-thought addition erk.. A doused in burning oil poker or something.. *wince* that sounds awful!
Lol oh that was the best line ever

oh the poor thing :/ I might be suffering from misplaced sympathy there but surely no one deserves that.. looking forward to hearing more <3

Urgh indeed that happens to me too I try to avoid overly complicated designs because of that XD Failed with Tezarya, obviously -_-
Aw no I think Odeyna isn't really good or bad (though I try to do that with most of my chars so I'm biased XD) she just like most other seat occupants are just trying to do what they consider their duty, keeping balance and order

Lol! Glad it's not just me Aww I'm sorry about Tezarya, but I think she is glorious and I hope you never change her design
Who would you say I'd your most chaotic occupant out of the twelve? The one with the least care for order and duty? Who's the most rebellious?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
The-Moonbound In reply to The-Cerzz [2015-08-06 17:35:34 +0000 UTC]
Oh it's def not just you, I'm sure it's a rather common artist problem Hehehe aw thank you, it's just the arms tbh, and I have absolutely no intention of changing her
She's modeled after a character in my main story, and she's got four arms, so I just couldn't change that :/
Oh questions, you do know how to make me happy XD The most chaotic is def Nyrenia the Dreamgazer, of the third seat. She's ancient, has lived for so long that most things tend to make her bored, so she takes much pleasure in any chaos and mischief she can cause
She'd probably also be the one who cares the least for order, she thrives in chaos, and has no interest at all in governing a seat. She became a seat occupant as one of the original twelve, and whilst the others killed each other over the eons, Nyrenia kept a low profile until she was so powerful that the younger ones couldn't defeat her. That's pretty much the tactic Xenya used aswell XD
The most rebellious, well it depends in what kind of defiance. Aluvia, for one, doesn't care what other people think of what she does with her slaves, Elunya forgets to keep track of her slaves' ages, while Tezarya is prone to betrayal, and Nyrenia does mostly just whatever she feels like XD

Agreed my sweetheart
Aww love I certainly feel your pain from when I drew her in our art trade *snuggles* I'm so glad to hear that you won't be changing her though sweetie she is so exquisite
As do you by giving me answers
Oh bless her, I feel sorry for immortals because of that utter boredom I imagine them having to deal with :/ I imagine in the end I would be the same as Nyrenia She sounds amazing though sweetie, do you have any designs of her yet? I adore her tactic to remain unnoticed until she was immovable, so she's chaotic but incredibly cunning at the same time, a bloody dangerous mix I imagine
I adore how different you make your demonesses!
Alright, next question.. Out of the twelve and the High Pharaoh which, if given the chance, would vacate their seat for pastures new? Nyrenia I guess would be one. Are there any others duty bound to stay there or would most stay there through choice?

Hehe aw I'm sorry XD I've heard her arms have given people trouble in the past aswell. I should have offered up a few options for you to choose instead
Aw you are so kind
Indeed, I can imagine it gets very boring after a couple of thousand years as a seat occupant :/ Not much to do besides invade other worlds and conquer them. Indeed I have a few older pieces of her and I'm working on a new fullbody of her updated design
Here she is:
Mature Content
Hehe indeed I think in a society like that, it's probably the way to go Nyrenia is both petite and weak physically, they should have taken her while her sorcery wasn't very good yet
Yep she's a slippery one, it's hard to get rid of her now when her seat is ranked so high and she was able to reach that level of power XD Aw thank you
I try
Oh... that's a hard one. If I'm honest, and this answer is probably not that fun, but I don't think any of them would leave their seat. I've always imagined the Shakra to be the most powerful race of the various demonic ones, with the High Council being the elite of the elite. To abandon that place would mean leaving your power behind and the others would surely hunt you down for it :/ So I don't think anyone would be willing to leave, they've all fought hard to keep their seat. But as for those who are more dutybound; Xenya the prime example, Emyria, Odeyna, Elunya, and I think one or two of the youngest seat occupants aswell but I hadn't decided completley on who

Oh babes no no no! You request what you want to see they were a challenge but I adored drawing her
she is utterly utterly epic
Honest babe
I can imagine, the poor girls (didn't think I would ever say that about the Occupants ) I guess you could either go morose or entirely crazy (I'm afraid I'd be with Aluvia, making use of my slaves
shame be damned, I'm bored! Lol)
OMG!! I remember her! She looks completely amazing can't wait to see all of her I adore her mane of hair, well I adore all of her actually
Do her slaves share in her sense of chaos? Are they rather wild or are they simply terrified of her? I have an odd image of her slave-general being this stoic demon who's really regal and like a calming influence on her chaotic nature
Oh she is immense beautiful, intelligent and immovable
good girl
Now you word it that way I certainly can't blame any of them for hanging onto their hard-won prize! I guess my hopeless romantic side was wondering if any of them would abdicate for love lol though by the looks of it, I'm not certain if any would have the slightest notion what true, unbreakable love was :/ Seeing it as a weakness I imagine..

The-Moonbound In reply to The-Cerzz [2015-08-10 16:11:28 +0000 UTC]
Meh I'll give options next time, I usually do that anyway XD
LOL idd poor girls feels like a weird thing to say about them Yep, utterly bored, crazy, or just reckless seems to be the most common results
Two of the three usually ends in being unseated. Heheheh that would be tempting wouldn't it? XD Aluvia just, uhm, hates seeing things go to waste...
Heheh thank you Uhm
Nyrenia's slaves are actually the ones suffering the most of all. Her seat is haunted, and it is said practically anyone who enters will go insane. This strange magic is affecting the rest of the Shadow-Realm aswell, but its heart and core is in Nyrenia's chambers. Most of her slaves are like zombies, her playthings for a short while
Even Tezarya feels sorry for them, lol, that's how bad it is. Someone is actually going to visit Nyrenia's chambers in a couple of chapters
Heheh Rakdel is actually unusual in his position, he only has it because Elunya is so distant to her slaves and rarely interacts with them Most seat occupants are giving orders themselves, but I can imagine they all have 'captains' of some kind to send out these orders to those even lesser. Rakdel is near the only one with some actual authority, though
Aw hehe I'm sorry XD But indeed none of them would willingly abandon their seat and certainly not for love. Most of them are too deep in their typical Shakra mindset of being so superior there is no one worthy of their love anyway Then you have the fools like Tezarya

Oh pfft! Hehe even if you did I'd ask which you'd prefer to see
Lol oh god yes it certainly does like 'delicate'
Oh I'd barely have gotten a good ass groove going before I got unseated lol I'd be the most useless Occupant in history
lol I certainly agree with Aluvia's mindset. The other seat-holders are just prudes I reckon, or slaves to daft pride! What's wrong with a little bit of joy? You go girl! *fist bumps Aluvia* I'm so sorry if this was mentioned in the chapters already, but I'm very forgetful :/ Does Aluvia 'make use' of her demonic slaves too? Or is her kink for humans at the exclusion of her own kind?
Oooh! Oh my gods Hun that sounds so gorgeously intriguing! Haunted by what? Who? Oooh I can't wait to read more of the haunted seat her poor slaves though. I guess at least they're sort of oblivious to it all.. Oh my god! Indeed it must be dreadful for Tezarya to even notice <3 Oooh I can't wait to see
So Rakdel's pride in himself and omitting the truth about his status is not -entirely- lies out of nowhere then dear of him <3
Awww the silly girls.. I need to be thick again I'm so sorry.. Do they have breeding males? I suppose they don't need to reproduce if they're immortal.. I'm just intrigued by what a 'perfect' male specimen would look like probably the High Pharaoh
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
The-Moonbound In reply to The-Cerzz [2015-08-23 10:07:38 +0000 UTC]
LOL I'm sure there have been some useless ones in history, with embarrasingly short reigns XD Oh lol I think prude is probably the opposite of the average Shakra demon XD They are very dedicated to their hierarchy
Right must be right
Hm I don't think I've mentioned that. I see Aluvia as a very suspicious seat occupant, especially after the way she won her seat, so I can't see her having an excessive amount of slaves. She probably replaces them quite often to sabotage potential plotting XD She would employ younger demons though, to do her 'housework'. It's her 'exotic' pets who serve for other kind of entertainment
Well I don't want to reveal too much, but Nyrenia is one of the three seat occupants who keep the shadows in control, so there would be a concentration of them in her seat. It's certainly haunted by other things aswell though, hallucinations, nightmares, many things that screws with the mind Lol not going to reveal who
But it will be someone unlikely
If they've truly lost themselves, they would be :/ But if they are just beginning to lose their mind, somewhere they'd be aware of it, simply unable to stop their mind rotting away Heheh well Tezarya guards the Well of Souls, which is like a giant lake where the souls of the deceased dwell, so she will def have come across Nyrenia's former slaves there and been stunned by their level of corruption :/ Oh no Rakdel has real reasons behind his pride
Oh they def need to reproduce (and even if they didn't, they still like the process of it lol). If unchallenged, a Shakra can live until forever (the High Pharaoh, Xenya and Nyrenia are all so old that if death by age was a thing they should be dead), but in their society that is very rare. They are always at war with some world, about to conquer another, they always need slaves and fighters I imagine the males who do produce pureblood offspring have visited the breeding stables or a female slave, with permission of their seat occupant/owner (or not but that has their own consequences). While the Shakra officially are mature at 300-400 years, as you know the males are banished at 300 because the demonic instinct just kick in a bit extra around that age. So in human standards someone who is 350 (who might that be
) is ~20 years old. And it's important to get rid of them before they get too old XD
Hm, a perfect one? I don't really know, they have a large variety of different skin and hair colors. Being large and well-built is certainly a big plus, as that would indicate they are capable of 'great physical deeds' XD Male Shakra have more spikes on their bodies than the females, so that is seen as attractive. Long hair is also considered attractive, as it is common to cut someone's hair off when they lose in the arena, and the Shakra grow their hair extremely slowly as adults. Scars are good but the vain bastards consider disfiguring scars and lack of bodyparts unattractive. Since horns grow as they age (everyone's born with one pair of horns, the second grows out at 1000 years or so, if you've grown a third pair you're old as fuck) these days the male demons only have time to grow one pair
LOL the High Pharaoh is def up there
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
The-Cerzz In reply to The-Moonbound [2015-08-23 11:18:09 +0000 UTC]
Lol I would be Queen amongst those losers! Care the Useless
I'd be a lesson in how not to do it for generations to come
I imagine the more useless Occupants would put far more care and planning into taking the Seat, forgetting an agenda on how to then keep it. I certainly admire the Shakra Occupants' (or eleven of them at least) restraint in the thought that duty to the Hierarchy comes first.. (*snickers* I could have continued into something naughty but I demonstrated a surprising level of restraint there myself
) I believe being overly suspicious is a good trait for a demoness wanting to keep her claws in her seat, so I can hardly blame her especially if there is dubiousness about how she took it. I'm not certain if be able to abstain from my entertainment, though I'd make certain to keep out of my sisters' sight. Lol I did say I'd be slaughtered as an Occupant, right?
*sits on hands bouncing excitedly* oh lords I really love this dark and mysterious demoness hmmm someone unlikely.. Rhod?
maybe not that unlikely
Oh my gods, I might like the Mistress, but I would not want to be one of her slaves! That sounds utterly dreadful indeed, I'm not surprised to hear Tezarya would be surprised to see such things :/
hehe n'Aww Rakdel
Another blank question, but would the seat occupants reproduce? I'm just wondering if they would produce a daughter as some sort of insurance policy; train her up to rule like they had to ensure that even if the Occupant died, her descendant would have the wherewithal to claim the Seat so that her blood can continue on. Or, would they see such a daughter as a threat to be disposed of?
Oooh oh I love hearing about this even if I cant write much of an intelligent response. Oooh what would happen if a demon bred without his mistress's consent? Is there any way he could be found out? Perhaps when his cage was removed, he could have slipped away to 'leave his legacy' before returning to have it replaced. I'm guessing there'd be enough eyes watching to put him off even attempting it?
(Lol I can't think who you might mean ) Hypothetically, what would a male demon attempt were he forgotten about and somehow left to age to, say, 550?
Mmm girly Shakra like 'em horny, eh? Mmm I can't say I disagree with them though, with this picture you paint, these perfect specimens sound like just that
I'm guessing they continue to age in the shadow realm? Lol that would be another strike against me, I'd try to bring one of these gorgeous guys back, though I'm guessing he wouldn't be happy to see an Occupant if he could return lol I'd singlehandedly bring the place down
Mmm the hornier the better eh girls?!
mmmm he sure is

Lol I wouldn't be so great either Indeed that's been the issue, I can imagine, with some of them earlier on when the High Council was new. Strength could win a seat but cunning kept one, and some thought strength was all it took. Stelleria is rocking the strength but had some issues from time to time before she could control her temper, to give an example of a current seat occupant
Aw it sounds very noble and everything, but I'm sure they got their own loyalties aswell, but indeed on the outside at least order must come first
(Oh lol you skipped on an opportunity?
) Indeed, it's a winning concept. Trust no one and suspect everyone, and don't forget to make them fear you XD Yep, don't remember exactly what was written in the chapters, but Aluvia got a quite unusual story of how she won her seat, and she def keeps that in mind. Heheh well technically it's only, uhm, insertion of certain things that are forbidden XD Other kinds of stimulation are perfectly acceptable, that's why many of them are even there
Lol, you'll have to wait and see I'm very excited to write it, whenever that will happen, lol. I'm glad you enjoy Nyrenia
Indeed, it's just proof things could always be worse
If they are seat occupants, no. But in their younger years many of them have produced offspring, but in typical Shakra fashion, they don't have any regard for them and don't call them children, only lazily acknowledge that they are related. Only two of the seats have heirs, because those two seats are vulnerable to sudden deaths, the Starbreaker and the Moonseeker's seats. The daughters are threats, but with the high mortality rate they are ensured to get the seat anyway at some point, but I'm sure there have been assassinations and mysterious, timely deaths
Well, they don't really do it for the intention of breeding (unless the future occupant of the two seats mentioned above), so it would be more like an 'accident'. But let's say, a male slave takes a like to some exotic female, and if his mistress was kind enough (which is very rare) to remove the cage, he sneaks away and decides that wouldn't it be fun to humiliate her with a hybrid, and it was discovered it was him, he'd be thrown into a pit with the hounds. They really don't see kindly on that, as it is a reflection of how things used to be a very long time ago. But such a scenario would practically never happen, because I can't think of many seat occupants who would release their male slaves for their own sake, and if they did release them it might be with the order of 'take that one, and I will watch.' I dunno if that explains what you asked for XD
Hm, well first off he'd be insanely proud of being able to evade exile for that long. At that point, demonic instinct would urge him to do various impulsive deeds to 'show his dominance' (yes, it is as crude as it sounds. It's just a less refined way of what the females are doing.) Attempts at escaping and going rogue, acts of depravity, open rebellion... such behavior would certainly attract the attention of a seat occupant though, and put a swift end to the wild life. Think like a teenage on an extreme amount of hormones They cool off as they get a bit older, with the females at least, lol
LOL XD Indeed they continue to age, but in typical fantasy creature fashion they only become more powerful with age, not restricted by weaknesses. Aw lol XD I'm afraid once in the 'other plane' you're just simply gone. I imagine it to be a black hole or something... you go in, and never go out. Black holes are so fascinating though o.o Poor example XD

Lol maybe they'd be uncertain about rushing my seat. They might think that no-one could possibly be as incompetent as me and that I'm probably a wickedly cunning creature laying a trap lol I'm glad that her issues opened her eyes to the fact that unutterable strength is not the be all and end all <3
(I know?! I have to be sick if I'm passing up the chance for innuendo!) It's a wonderfully fearful formula to my mind <3 if I was capable, I'd be the sort who never got angry, just remained quiet and glared whilst the target of my displeasure wet themselves and spilled their guts to tell me everything they knew. Obviously I went to the High Pharaoh's school of Tyranny Oooh! I see! I'd have to devise ways to get my wicked way
Argh! I need to read eet!
Erf.. Indeed :/ poor sods :/
I guess that's the way to live, treating their own offspring as nothing more than strangers, otherwise opportunists would try to use the kids against them.
Eeep, a lot of very unlikely factors having to come together there :/ I guess it's all for the better for all involved. I don't blame the mistresses for looking fatally unkindly on such a male for taking her 'gift' maliciously for granted. Aww indeed it certainly answered my question Hun, sorry for flooding you <3
I wondered if he'd have the thought to escape the females into one of the conquered worlds? Better to live as a feared tyrant there than a fugitive or worse in his homeland..
Erf.. I guess a 'short' wild life is better than eternity in exile lol do they communicate by grunting and farting like teenagers too?
Blimey there is a veritable army in exile then, good thing they can't get back into the Shakra's world. Oh black holes terrify me, getting crushed to oblivion... *shudders* apparently there's one on the edge of our solar system...

Lol Hehe I'm sure Stelleria knew that already, having seen many other seat occupants unseated, she knows that strength isn't everything, but it sure helps with the 'fear me' aspect
Lol indeed I would def be more frightened of that
That is Xenya's tactic aswell, whenever she wakes up from a slumber. Heh indeed not all hope is lost yet
Oh definitely, for them. Had the Retharin on the colony not known that Yveeta was the High Pharaoh's daughter, she might have been overlooked as just another demon 'noble' Odeyna was pretty doomed anyway as she is a seat occupant, but Yveeta might have lived.
I think most people are irritated by things being taken from granted, but if you're high on pride and have your reptuation to think about, you can't let such a thing slip :/ Aw no you didn't flood me
Yeah I'm sure there would have been those who had that thought. Any colony is outruled though, as the natives would gladly kill a Shakra given the chance, and the High Council have outposts there. It would be hard to evade attention. In a ruined or dying world, well... you couldn't live there XD At least not for more than a few centuries, as the shadows would slowly eat away at everything living. I guess that depends on the person, who knows what happens once you are banished to the void
Indeed there's quite a few of them who have been exiled over the years. Ofc, mortality rate is higher in males than females, so def not everyone ends up there.
They are terrifying but Idk, there is something mysterious about them Yep I've heard about that, but I just put all my hopes on being dead before the world goes under

Lol it's not as refined as the High Pharaoh's silent calculating terror, but it is certainly effective Xenya is sounding very very gorgeously mysterious
I guess it serves to keep the other seat occupants focused, when they are reminded that they are not totally infallible :/
Oh gods no indeed babe, image is everything along with power and fear
i know its all conjecture because they can't return from exile, but you said that the older a male demon gets the more powerful he grows. Could an ageing Shakra not shake off any assassination attempts if he, for example, chose the human's world to exile himself in? Agh the outposts would indeed be a problem. Poor doomed males *wants to build a male Shakra sanctuary for unwanted 'pets' *
lol they did a joke about it on one of the sitcoms I watch. They're sitting in the pub and The first of the trio turns to the third, who brought it up about the existence of this black hole-
1. 'So when's this going to happen?'
3. 'Well roughly, give or take, about two to three.. Hundred.. Million years..'
1. 'Well we got time for a quick drink then?!'
2. 'So what they gonna do about it, Dave?'
3. 'Who?'
2. 'The Government.'
3. 'Trig, there's nothi-- They're going to send McAlpine up with a lorry load of bricks.'
2. 'Nah, they'll need more than one!'
Ahem.. Stupid I know

Aww lol I know you want to have a sanctuary They deserve it though after what they've done in the past :/ He could surely fend off assassins younger than himself, but not those who are older and more experienced. I'm not sure if a single male would be worth caring about though XD His former mistress might notice that he is gone and then it would be up to her how worth it she think it is
Oh lol British humor

Definitely
Lol I do want a sanctuary and I want to be the overseer if there's a position going..?! *clutches at him* I care about him! *wails* So.. If a male slave gets away from his mistress, and she doesn't care enough about him, would she leave him or have him killed simply for the affront?
Hehe yeah, it doesn't translate too brilliantly we tend to have an odd sense of humour

Lol I think it really depends on how much trouble they'd have to go through, let's say if one of Odeyna's slaves did such a thing, it might be hard to actually find him since she (and Elunya) have access to plenty of portals to conquered worlds. Ofc, that also means they've got minions who could track them down, but I'd say it depends on the slave and the circumstance
Someone like Tezarya or Stelleria would never give up, while someone like Nyrenia wouldn't pay it a second thought XD
Hehe

Oooh.. So it's possible.. Unlikely, but possible... *resists concocting a fugitive slave demon chased by minions through the worlds*
Oooh so it depends on who is your mistress <3 I'm so sorry, but Nyrenia is the mistress with the mind-broken slaves yes? I guess none of them had ever gathered the will to leave even though she wouldn't care :/

I think it's one of those possibilities I'm never going to explore in the story XD It would just be getting sidetracked from the main plot
Indeed Nyrenia is the one with three eyes Yep they'd have to leave very early on, before the insanity kicks in, so that's another very tiny possibility, lol

Hehe I can understand that sweetheart it's just my insatiable need to design characters *innocent whistle*
Maybe they saw the state of their fellow slaves and just had to take the chance to get out of there, but not before they'd lost a touch of their sanity.
