This will be a series of panels expressing my headcannons about the origins of certain things in the show.
I like to think about how exactly alchemist was dealing with is transformation, and how and what he did during it, because the only "organic part" about skeleton king are his guts, and the rest are robotic parts (Even the skull) I think the alchemist actually was forced by the evil spirit that was corrupting him to create his new body piece by piece, for when the moment arrives, he will transfer whatever has not been weakened by the dark ones to the skeleton king's body. Also I like to think that he has been reminded of all his failures in those days...

Does anyone agree that the skeleton king head peace is similar to the endoskeleton terminator with the parts of mon*star and horned king. With his new form it’s similar to skeletor not the original.

when he was finally corrupted, he became a full fledged undead demonic being, a demon zombie, i think when his was body on this corrupted state, it was rotten, old, ergo was basically falling apart so with his magic and equipements he removed whatever was weak about his body (everything except his guts), replaced it with the mechanic parts, (head, torso, arms, legs etc...) just like he did with the robot monkeys themselves, and so is transformation into the cyborg demon skeleton we all love to hate was complete. He did this to hold on most of the magic and power of his past selve as possible and still get the powers he will obtain as a herald of the dark ones, i hope this answers your question and more...
