The Puyo Puyo series is one I technically haven't played, but at the same time I have...It's a tile-matching puzzle series that's occasionally been reskinned as different games (similarly to Panel de Pon) when released in the west (Kirby's Avalanche, Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine). I think some of the original games have made it to the west but most of them seem to stay in Japan.

While I know I've heard of this series before (I know I've seen the Gamecube game in stores and online) I never really looked into it much until recently when one of the gaming news websites I followed posted a trailer for a 3DS game called Puyo Puyo Chronicle, an RPG-puzzle game www.youtube.com/watch?v=vY9f6F… I know it's aimed at kids but it's cute. ;o; I doubt it will come to the west...but regardless I started looking up things about the series on YouTube and the Wikia and I've fallen in love with the cute art style and characters. Who knew a puzzle/tile-matching video game series could have such a colorful cast of characters?

Anyways, this is the mascot of the series, Carbuncle. I knew I had to draw him once I saw him. Apparently he was owned by Satan originally in-universe, which sounds disturbing at first until you find out that Satan is just a green-haired Bishonen puyonexus.com/wiki/Satan (I honestly didn't know he was a boy at first).

I haven't really gotten into puzzle games before but if I ever get a chance to pick up one of these (or the Chronicles one that I doubt will get localized) I might because the series is so cute and I have a need for cute games. ;_; Why are cute things so underrated in the west?
