For today I wanted to show you my Brother's Fantasy Zone collection!
WHAT IS FANTASY ZONE? It's an AMAZING addictive arcade game created by SEGA in 1986. It's a great twist on the classic shoot 'em up genre, only the level layout is open and non-linear also it spawned an entire new kind of "cute 'em up" :'3
Do yourself a favor and try to play this game or watch some footage on youtube!
since that time (and until at least the year 2000) OPA OPA, the main character/spaceship, has been SEGA mascot on the ARCADE scene. YEP. not Sonic, but OPA OPA!
This is my bro' collection of Fantasy Zone and as you can see it, he got all the games (not counting the unofficial Nes port, and then some..).
It's the original game on Master System, the follow ups, the spinoff Fantasy Zone the Maze (kinda like Pacman), Galactic protector (a japanese only spinoff), Fantasy Zone jr on game gear, the 3D remake on ps2, the original Arcade version on Saturn and the final compilation. Also we "have" the unreleased game on PC Engine (I did the backcover for the CD case)!
Neat collection, no?
OPA OPA has TONS of cameos in other SEGA games (Sonic riders, the Phantasy Star Online series) and even in some cartoons [link]

My games are all Pal on Mega Drive/Xbox/X360/Wii/Gamecube.
Only on Jap Ps1/Ps2.
Pal, US and Jap on Saturn & Dreamcast.

Nice collection! I have Fantasy Zone for NES (Though I have the Master System nowadays), and the U.S. version of Fantasy Zone Gear, both of which I found at my local GameXChange. They're both incredibly fun, and I hope to get the Fantasy Zone II: The Tears of Opa-Opa for Master System soon as well. I really wish they had released Fantasy Zone II DX over here though. It would've made me incredibly happy.

Heh, many games at stickers or this directly printed on them back then.
As a matter of fact, the green square on the Saturn game as it as well (japanese games often had that directly written on the box) and it's probably on the back of the Japanese Gamegear and Master System copies too.

Well, it was a time where we were more honest and "good". Some people would tell you "Do not resale!" so...you would resale-D'OH! XD

I've looked for Super Fantasy Zone, but it's obviously rare these days.
I think SEGA Classics Collection is the only western release afterwards, though I might be wrong.
