Description
DetachmentMeadows;
Sunset;
The feeling of
Blades of grass
On soles of feet.
Calm;
Tranquil;
Lapping of waves
Quietly bathing
Hands in the heat.
No longer could I cherish
The memory,
Not while you’re around.
I longed for comfort,
safety, sanity,
To be safe and sound.
You imprinted I was different,
And not for reasons gay,
You tore me like paper doll
No apathy or dismay.
But now that picture’s risen
From sullen ashes you once cast
That doll become de masterpiece
Those pastels now so bright.
Even in night,
No longer do I fear
For never more
Shall I dread
Detachment coming near.

I like the opposition between the nonchalant beginning and the dynamism of the ending.
