Hey congrats on the DD, I saw it at the bottom of the homepage and was like "Heeey I recognize that!"
I think this one a good deal of the other pictures in your gallery deserve it.

Great idea! The line placement really adds a different dimension that draws your eyes to sensual places in a way that isn't vulgar.

Do you have an artist statement for this series?
They feel a little gimmicky at times.

So...those lines are cut pieces of tape? If that doesn't sound tedious then I dunno what is! Gorgeous work!

Amazing painting! The colors and the contrast between the softness and beauty of the woman and the lines is great, wonderful effect. Incredible work, as always.

WOW... I mean... WOW. I can't believe you did those lines without use of a computer. I seriously thought you scanned in the painting and did them with Photoshop later. That is incredible. They also do something really interesting with the space of the actual image. Reminds me of a birdcage actually. Although it works with prospective of the figure, I think the lines also evoke a feeling of being uncomfortable. Like a strange claustrophobia. Nevertheless, this is lovely. A+

I've had trouble using watercolor on Rives - do you prepare the surface somehow first?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
theirison In reply to BRipin [2011-06-09 14:09:00 +0000 UTC]
yeah I wet the entire surface first. and I primarily use the watercolor as a base color so I'm not rendering or anything like that
But yeah, try wetting the surface first, let it dry then you should be good to go
