UPDATED!!!!----- SOURCES :
1. CIA logo via the CIA website at cia.gov
2. All other imaging is mine.
----- INSTALL:
1. open StartUp Manager (System > Administration > StartUp-Manager)
* If startup manager is not installed, it can be by running this command:
* sudo apt-get install startupmanager
2. Click on the Apparence tab
3. Click on the Manage usplash themes... button
4. Click Add
5. Select the .so file
6. Click Close
7. Next to Usplash Theme, select the newly added usplash
8. Click close.
9. Reboot.
----- NOTES:
1. it is easier to view on screen if you rename the file.
2. IF you use MADWIFI or NDISWRAPPER, you will have to recompile your HAL for your network card as startup-manager runs depmod which replaces the HAL for your wireless card.

Sorry for the delay, I have to find the sources for it, but I'll be glad to add that resolution. Also, I'm going to recompile it and resubmit it to work with UB10

Try also on Ubuntu 8.10, but seems does'nt work. I hope you can compile it for this version.

Good work so far. Looks very good.
Is planned in the near future support for an encrypted Ubuntu to realize.
If you have a system that is encrypted must be with Ctrl + Alt + F1 always on the console switch input to do this

I like that! Any idea how to got this work on a widescreen (1440x900)? The graphic is stretched horizontally. I already tried out different settings in usplash.conf as well as menu.lst but nothing worked. Being a linux (ubuntu) newbie maybe you can help my out?

Hey Mat,
I am in the process of recompiling this thing to:
1. release with a different license
2. support all kinds of widescreen and other resolutions
3. apply a common palette to the images to fix the progress bar's color.
As soon as it's done, I'll re-upload it here and ping you. My laptop is 1280x800 also and I agree that it needs to look good. Also, I'll have a login theme to go along with it too.

Edit: I read somewhere that a - to me - rather simple solution could be to "Pre-stretch it [the picture, i.e. the CIA logo] vertically so it looks correct when stretched horizontally."...

I re-compiled it, fixing the Progress Bar (actually changing it 100%), and added a mess of different resolutions.
The 1280x800 version still looks a bit squished, but nothing like using a 4x3 screen stretched to 16x9. Check it out and let me know if you like it!

Working on one boot login, but recently got laid off, so the login screen got put on the back burner... I'll have it up as shortly after I find a job!

Please let me know any problems with it! for example, the 800x600 (and I'm sure the 640x480) version has a bug where the progress bar is longer than the image... working on that... any other help or suggestions are appreciated!
