I would love to know how you put together your reference material. Spectacular illustration. When I saw the thumbnail I thought it was a photograph, and then I thought it might be a 3D render.
Really great piece. I am in awe. And as was noted in an earlier comment, the story telling of the image is rich with imagination. So many questions!

An excellent painting that tells an interesting story. I like the way you rendered the wet skin and rocks, its very impressive.

i like how you just paint everything, most people would just use a rock phototexture and be done with it since it saves hours work.
great job man, inspiring

I find this strangely romantic ... I think I have problems. Β But this is great, the atmosphere is so excellent that I can almost smell wet rocks and salt water, and I can almost hear the woman's held breath and heavy breathing from her 'companion' Β Very amazing job, and I can't even imagine the work that was put into all those individual rocks. Β As others have said, from a thumbnail this looks like photography, and then you open it and it's this amazing artwork. Β Fantastic! <3

Wow, this is so amazing. At first i thought it was a photography. Did you draw all of these stones seperately? That's amazing! Β

This a movie or something?
The masked person reminds me of the Icarus participants from Mirror's Edge.

I love how each of your picture shows a story, even though I am not able to figure out the backgrounds of this picture. I think that's what makes it that interesting.

This is absolutely brilliant. One of my favorite pieces ever. Flame is good, rocks are gorgeous, wet sand is perfect, waves are beautiful... And then you have the dynamism between the two subjects, and their personal dynamism within each of themselves... Every single object in this piece is contributing to a story. I love it. Phenomenal.

Great work, looks so real! Only the size of the two compared is a little confusing. Either he is very small or she is enormously tall.

TheMichaelMacRae In reply to SmyliArt [2015-12-20 20:00:42 +0000 UTC]
I think they are appropriate heights relative to where they are. I did a lot of tests. the beach slopes up a little bit so if you factor that in it appeared he was about a foot taller if they were standing. I think there's something amis with the perspective on the rocks or maybe I have the lamp too high up, something betraying the perspective. I'm not sure.

I was looking at the rocks for orientation and it looked like they weren't that far from each other. I would say the rocks as measurement confused me a little, but I also looked at it while zoomed in. Now, on second look with the picture zoomed out they don't look that different in height anymore (I mean, there still seems to be some discrepancy, but not too much). But it also might just be me, since I have problems with really understanding depth sometimes...
Anyway, I still love it!

They look to be the same height to me, tho the lamp seems to be tilted toward the viewer.
