Description
After civilizations age, they learn,Nothing is sacred, but only highly
Improbable and unprecedented,
Which, flies open to interpretation
By impressionable, pattern-hungry
Things, eager to annihilate unknowns,
And failing that, put them a-pedestal,
Demanding of worship—divinity
Is based on metaphors derived in thought
With limited reason, with overwrought
Code primarily evolved to worry
Over meanest problems of survival,
But now re-purposed for more abstract climes.
In endless cleverness they self-applaud
Those agentives best fit for projection
Outward, to mind the gap. Less than, angry
That they wrote themselves into the corn
Field, because there are finite rhymes,
Even slant ones, and the last recourse, nonce
Words, might be confused for the names of God.
