Must pay respect to the King of the Sky
Rathalos, the old champ from Monster Hunter series, the constant pain in the ass for wyvern gems, and also one of the rare ones that appear in every single game.
I went with a messier look with this painting; details aren't tighten up, lines aren't as clean, but I think it adds to the chaos

So... I'm torn.
First off, this is pretty cool stuff, as always. It's definitely got wildness, and the hard lines mixed with the broken ones really do create a neat effect. It gives off a strong feeling, a powerful feeling, like both figures are tearing at the fabric of the world with their movements. It's nice. It's good. You've got excellent color work, the blast of blue within what would otherwise be a very red and tan image is a nice offset that seems more natural than the actual coloration at time. It seems balanced despite the frenzy, which is good.
That being said, it looks fake. The hunter is infinitely more defined than the Los: brighter colors, sharper lines (so sharp you could cut yourself on some of them), and he's slightly more touchable because of it. In previous works you've blended hunter and monster well, sometimes fading the monster slightly, breaking it apart, but it felt like the beast was a part of the beauty. Here, the Los is somewhere else, something else, the background to another image which makes it seem like a separate thing.
But, like I said, it looks fake. I feel like I'm getting Megaman mixed with Okami in the foreground, and something more like Musashi in the background. The second is, unfortunately, not an exact match, but what I'm trying to say is that they seem to be from two different styles. The Hunter seems like he's painting the Los with his hammer, and the Los's fire is much too bright and clear for it, which makes both seem unreal. This is only really an issue because the others in the series have been so wonderfully real. Consistent. Beautiful. Even when they were wild and blended hunter and wyvern they were real. And that's why I'm torn.
You have awesome, incredible styles here. One in front and one behind. You've got a nice eye for detail and how to effectively throw together things, but it's just too... unreal for me, and that tears me right in two.
Also, the left leg looks like it's been resized to be shorter and wider the the right one (going via the hunter's perspective). I know part of it is perspective, but it just bring back the cartoony aspect which I'm not yet onboard with. Aaaaand... this is getting long. I'll cut it off here.
tl;dr: Cool style, but too much cartoon for me.

You pointed out the exact thing I didn't like the painting. The cartoony feel that you mentioned comes from the lines. If you compare it to my previous ones, this painting's lines are a lot thicker and heavier, giving it a more comical look. I mentioned it multiple times on my stream that I didn't like the look of it for the same reasons you've brought up here.
However, I was very burnt out with this painting, and with the series in general, that I decided to move on for the time being. There are just too many things I still want to try.
I do intend to revisit it at some point and fix the lines like I did with Gaara's painting, since I want the series to be consistent in style.

At any rate, I can understand being burnt out on a project. ^-^; I'm only working on twenty things simultaneously all the time, so it's nice to set something down for a while. Either way, keep it up. You're very talented and I look forward to more of your work in the future.

I don't have The Book or The Bird, so I'm afraid I'll have to settle for the finished stuff.
And it's a bit of both. I like to take on projects when I have free time, and it seems I always have free time. If I didn't get things done on time I'd start worrying I'm taking on too much, but as it stands it just means that I spend a lot of time keeping myself busy.

It's lovely to see more of your finished work on DA again! This one is absolutely gorgeous, I love the colours and the chaotic lines and all. It definitely adds to the effect you were going for, you did the picture justice by changing what you generally do, lovely over all.
