The Professor firmly pushed the sharp hypodermic needle into Kerstin's neck and injected the deadly drug into her carotid artery. Her muscular body convulsed and strained against the straps holding her to the table as the drug flowed directly to her brain. She suddenly became rigid, jerked several times, then became completely limp as the drug overwhelmed her.

The Professor kept the needle inserted in Kerstin's neck until she was lying quietly on the table, then pulled it out and set it aside.

Kerstin had no sense of time or space. She felt like she was floating. Her only connection to reality was the voice of the Professor - a voice leading her to an entire new set of memories of what had happened during the last twenty-four hours.
