Description
Bea and I where playing cards at the kitchen table, When her father Paul came in with an excited look on his face. Her and I shared glancess at her fathers craziness. He looked at me and flashed his famous Maccartney smile. He pulled me up out of my chair and spun me around."I won a ticket to London's annually teen mascarde ball and we are going dress shopping, young lady" He said with a wink.
"Wow, Maccartney in drag, I never thought I would see that day." I said with sarcasm dripping from my mouth. Paul gave me a watch your tone and what you say glance.
"No it's for you. No protest we are going shopping for a ball gown. The Ball is tonight, but don't worry I booked Nancy's hair dresser and made a nail appointment. Just consider it a bonus for all you do for us. Now come on no lagging we haven't have time to waste the car is outside." He pulled me out the door by my arm. Bea just giggled and followed suite behind. I groaned, since Bea and I had just recently woken up I was in only sweats and no make-up. Since I have short hair this was a deadly combo to be scene in public with. considering I looked like a boy. I got some strange looks from customers when I first walked in the vintage dress shop, but they turned the other cheek when Paul followed behind me. Then the man working there came up to us and asked us what occasian we where shopping for. When I said ball his eyes lit up. The theme of the ball this year was music through the ages. I had my eyes set on a lovely silver flapper 20's dress. I had always loved the twenties. (Even consider the prohibtion period) It was a time of change and Jazz.... gotta love that Jazz. Paul had another dress in mind. He pulled of a Red fiffties swing dress and turned to smile at me. I was very hesitent at first, but I decided to try it on. I tried on the the flapper dress and it was lovely, but it didn't wow me like I thought it would. I was considering not trying on the swing gown, but I had promised Paul. I sighed and stepped into it and that was it. I stepped out of the dressing room with the biggest smile on my face. It was one of those dress that when you put it on you just know that it was made for you. It felt amazing and I think Paul caught on to it.
"Bea I think that is the dress." He said with a giant smile and Bea shook her head and argreeded. "Now for the finnishing touch." Paul Pulled out a beautiful hand crafted mask. It was one that only coverd the eyes. It was Red with gold and black accents. I finally felt beautiful. Later, much later I found out that it was orginally Linda's mask and to this day I felt so honored to where it.
{much later the evening}
I was just standing to the side. So far for music through the ages they played 90's rap and Rap from now. It was worst then my school dance. I took a deep breathe. I know it was only 5 minutes into the dance, but still. The DJ asked for any requests. Then at that moment in time I raced over pushing every one out of my way. I finally got to the DJ.
"Could you play "That'll be The Day? by Buddy Holly and the Crickets?" He looked at me like I was crazy and maybe I was, but he put it on any way. I jumped on the dance floor and started just swaying to the beat when a Mick Jagger look a like came up and asked me to dance. I gracefully accepeted. I really wish I could see who he was. Next song that came on was a monkee's song. I thought he would have stop danceing with me, but he didn't. Time passed so quickly I almost forgot my curfew. when I saw my clock said 11:40 I sighed. I pulled away. He had a sad look in his eyes. Im sorry I have to go. I left so quickly that I didn't relise that my Phone fell out of my pocket. He picked it up and tried to yell for me, but I was to far away.
