Finally found enough free time to finish up these two lowpoly 3D characters of my mascot character, Beta, and myself. It was a bit of a pain to keep from splitting their bodies into to many separate pieces, but it helps make them feel more solid. I usually use flat color to hide seams and separations in 3D characters and it creates a style that has challenges, but here I made my best effort not to construct them like action figures even though it probably would have made them easier, and I even used the cube mapping feature of Anima8or to give her dress a shiny texture which I think works pretty nicely even with the flat colors. Beta's dress was especially had to do in 3D without the aid of physics simulations in Anim8or, it has to be modeled and weighted in a way that the low poly nature doesn't cause it to clip through her leg when she turns or bends, I'll still have to be careful about that when I animate her. The plan is to use them for channel art and short animations on both Twitch and Youtube when I get back into trying to doing them more frequently again. (Though with the COPPA law and the way Youtube is trying to comply with it, I'm not even sure how safe it will be to use them there in 2020.)
