Firstly beautiful photograph.
wow, you certainly opened a can of worms here. You wont here my feelings on current situations here, as you have requested and said this is not the forum for it, some of the comments left did stir up some thought though. All i would like to say is the narrow mindednesses and rudeness shown by some people is frustrating and dissapointing.
I'm actually sorry i started reading all of the comments because it distracted me from the reasons the photograph struck me. For me the pictured stirred some very personal feelings, my brother in law was a retired major in the autralian army and died suddenly 5 weeks ago at only 47. He was given a service with full military honour. Your picture did bring back some sad feelings of our families loss but also good memories of what a great man he was.
Thank you

My husband is a US Marine and images like this always remind me of the possibility in our lives for this. Even with that knowledge I stand by him and am proud and honored that he has chosen this to do so that I can have a life that is wonderful and full of every possibility that exists.
This image truly symbolizes what has been given for all of us from the very start of this country until now. From the first shots fired against the British to the troops guarding over us now and all those in between. Someone somewhere sacrificed so that we can sit at our computers and see this image. What an honor and what a debt we owe.
Thank you for posting this AND the edit to your comments. It is ALL about the image and the emotion it conveys, not the politics. Support the troops even if you don't support the politics behind it all. This image says remember those who have fallen in all times, for all reasons so that we can be free and safe. May we all never have to face that in our lives, but if we do may we do it with honor and with pride.
Thank you for sharing this.

If you don't want political argumentation, I suggest that you not make such a loaded comments section. There is an infinite schism between supporting our troops and supporting the war. I for one believe that out troops are best supported by bringing them home. In fact, the genesis of the phrase "Support our Troops" was the Vietnam War, and it was almost without fail accompanied by the words "bring them home".
As far as the artistic side, excellent work. Might be a tidbit overexposed, but as far as capturing the moment, you did a good job.

Thanks, Agent.
The slight overexposure was to more white out everything around the Honor Guard, and put the focus on them, than anything else (example- the Juniper trees in the upper right hand corner-area.), but I do see what you're saying.
Thanks for looking!

Well if you did it for creative purposes, then more power to you. Another option would be to over-expose just the background in Post-Production with a dodge brush, that way you would retain the highlight detail on the white sections of the uniforms and also draw the focus away from the trees and other stuff.

The b/w, and the added contrast was all post, because I shot everything in color.
It was, however, overcast at that point, so I'm not sure that the details were really there anyway. Have to go back and look..
Thanks, again!

i personally think people should post their opinions as forms of art as opposed to hostile words on an art site after the art has been presented, but that's just me....

Teddy was a WWII survivor. He was a wonderful man... Never really grew up, yknow? Kid at heart all the way.. xD
The kids at church loved him dearly. He would always do magic tricks, and always had some story to tell. No idea if he embellished the stories, but they were such fun to sit and listen to.
He was wonderful..

I am most appreciative of our military. Those who sacrafice even the littlest things for our freedom and others who can't obtain it themselves are heros. It is the inspiration of these men and women that have given me the reason for my current process into the military at age 33.
