Description
Alex descended the stairs slowly, her blood still causing little droplets to fall down from the front of his military jacket. He could hear Wheeler's light breathing and knew instantly what he had to do.As he crept into the living room were the older man was resting, his eyes flashed to the gun on the nearby table he picked it up and moved closer. Wheeler's eyes opened and instantly locked with Alex's.
"Alex...?" Wheeler understood the situation as soon as he opened his eyes. Instead of being angry with Alex, he felt pity. "You really have snapped this time, haven't you? I knew you were in the hospital, but I never thought..."
"I'm doing it for him...only for him. He's all that matters...and no one else. I only do what he says." Alex said it as if he were on cloud nine. Like he was going to be married or some other amazing event.
Wheeler looked away. Then he responded. "Fine..."
BANG! It was quick. The older man had felt nothing. There was now a hole dead center in his forehead. Alex simply dropped the gun were he stood and walked away.
He rummaged through his older dresser and found some clothes that would fit. He pulled off the bloody clothes and threw them carelessly to the side. He now sported a faded green t-shirt, orange hoodie, and black jeans. The only thing he still had on from his previous garb was his father's dog tags, which he tucked into his shirt.
Alex entered the bathroom and rummaged through Elle's clothing before finding her wallet and taking the money out. Her eyes were still open, practically staring at him. He paid no mind to the motionless corpse.
He descended the stairs once more, but before leaving he looked at one of the multiple photographs of his mother, father, and Joshua together. It must've been one of the most recent one's because Josh looked around nine. He took the photo from the wall, broke the glass, and ripped his parents out of the picture. He threw everything except Joshua's portion of the picture down. He looked at it for a moment before gently stroking it and putting it in his jacket pocket.
He exited the house, not looking back, and headed towards the town exit. "It isn't done yet..." He spoke softly to himself. 'I still have much to do.' He thought.
