Description    "The sand feels AMAZING, Sam!" Quorra chuckled out as she ran her bare feet through the hot sands of the late night summer's beach. The water came ever so close to her pale pink toes before receding, but slowly it got closer and closer. She giggled when the water finally reached her feet. "These beaches are so much more beautiful than those on the Grid." She said softly, before sitting her small bottom onto the sandy earth.

"Mmmm-hmmm." Sam plopped down next to her, breathing in the salty air. The delicious, familiar, flavor of the salt reminded him of his father. It was the same beach the man had brought him to all those years ago. Salt was such a melancholy flavor to him now. He exhaled loudly.

"Sam...are you okay?" Quorra said in her concerned, yet curious tone.

"Yeah, Quorra, I'm fine." he uttered to her, lying. He wrapped his arm around her shoulder in a soft embrace.

She had only been in the User world for a few weeks and it must be overwhelming. Thank God that Kevin had prepared her with information on much of the general situations she would come to experience, but of course, his information was outdated by about 2 decades. Not that it stopped Quorra. With the internet, all she had to do was look up things and in a matter of mere minutes she would be an expert in whatever she had been researching. Of course, Sam tweaked with the internet connection before letting her get on. She wasn't prepared for ALL the wonders of the human world just yet. And of course, he would bring her to the library ever so often. She really loved the feel of the old books. She would run her long fingers across the black text, savoring the feeling of the user world.

It was his job to protect her. She was like a little sister...she was a little sister. Everything his father had hoped in his work and a great person, er, ISO.

"Sam....are you sure you are okay?" Quorra said with deep concern and a hint of confusion. She still had difficulty figuring out people's emotions.

"Quorra..." Sam said without breaking his gaze with the setting sun. "...can you tell me about my...our...dad?" His voice quivered slightly.

"Yeah...I think I can...what do you want to know?"

And so they talked...there on the beach. For hours. The sun disappeared into the sea along with its honey and crimson color skies and was replaced by a brilliant moon with a deep blue sky that was dotted with twinkling gems. She spoke of how his father had saved her, how he had treated the ISOs, how he had taught her, how he had spoke of Sam as though he was the whole world. It took all of the young man's strength not to break into tears. Oh how much he desired to see his father...it just wasn't fucking fair.

Sam had added in a separate living space for Quorra since she had moved in. He lounged about the couch while she researched in her room. Her room consisted of a bed, computer, and a dresser that was littered with little trinkets she had picked up here and there. Among them where seashells she and Sam had picked out earlier that day and free bookmarks from the local library. She was fast asleep, drifting through a dreamless sleep.

Sam, on the other hand, was not so lucky. In fact...he was in a nightmare.

He was laying in his old room...only he wasn't a child. He was his grown self. Sam looked up at his father who smiled at the man. He uttered those words that would ring in Sam's ears forever.

"We're always on the same team." Before turning around, but he did not walk away. It seemed like he was talking to someone in Sam's doorway.

Sam tried to scream, but his body felt like it was being crushed ...constricted...by an invisible snake. He grasped around his body, trying to get in free. As much as he clawed and squirmed it didn't matter...the crushing force just became stronger and stronger. And Sam's own nails only contributed in cutting and ripping and tearing at his own flesh, adding to the pain. He tried to scream out to his father. The force increased around his throat...no noise could escape. Finally...after what seemed like an agonizingly long time, Sam was able to speak words....but his voice was that of his as a child.

"D-dadddy...daddy! Please, DADDY!" Sam cried out, but when the man came to face him...it was not his father. It was nothing more than a monster who wore the mask of his daddy. It was CLU. He began creeping over Sam's immobile body. His cold hands creeping up the young man's body. No...that wasn't the gentle touch he remembered when daddy would hug and would hold him. He wanted to break free but the hands of the monster were so strong...all he could do was sob.

".....AM....SAM! WAKE UP!" Quorra was shaking the brunette with all her might...well not all of it. "What's wrong? You were crying? Is there anything I can do?" Quorra hovered over him with wide, awake eyes.

"I...nothing. It's fine. Everything is fine. Just go back to bed." Sam laid back down, facing away from her. His exhausted mind quickly slipped back into a dream state.

She poured herself a cup of orange juice from the fridge nearby and as she walked towards her room she uttered the phrase "You're a terrible liar, Sam Flynn." With great sorrow in her voice.

An interesting take, but I think, that Sam has grown into his own man, you could see that in the portal scene, when Quorra handed the master disc of Flynn to him and his look on his face, that says something like: "I promise, I'll take your Legacy and stand up to my own…"

Well, I do agree with you to an extent, but that doesn't mean he can't be his own man and still miss his father. I know I would in that situation. And I do agree, I saw the movie three times in theaters (and now I got the DVD, lol) so that scene IS very important and means a lot. But this is simply my 'wishful thinking' for the future.
I'm glad you read it. And if you enjoyed it, I hope you will continue to enjoy it.
