Description
This was an idea I had to do an alternate archenemy for the Amalgam Comics hero Dark Claw. In the original Amalgam Comics, Dark Claw's (an amalgam of Wolverine and Batman) archenemy was Hyena (an amalgam of Sabertooth and The Joker). Now, while that was an inspired pairing, I always felt it was a bit of a mismatch. That's why I decided to make Vertebreak. He's an amalgam of Sabertooth (Victor Creed, Marvel Comics) and Bane (DC Comics). I thought they were a better match both physically and character-wise. I had the toughest time coming up with a name I was satisfied with. I wanted something that referenced Bane's famous breaking of Batman's back. I was lucky that there's already a wrestling move called the vertebreaker, but no characters using that name, and that was that.
