Description Am I the only one who came away from the Alfred Kwak series just feeling really bad for Dolf? When you read between the lines his backstory's pretty messed up; at some point during his childhood someone put it into his head that being part thrush and having a yellow beak was bad and he should hate himself for it. Some sleazeball bullied a small boy over something he couldn't control to the point he developed severe identity issues. Who was it? Not his parents or they never would've gotten together in the first place.

When Alfred first uncovers the secret about his beak during a scuffle, I couldn't help but notice Dolf retreats to an old well to reapply the paint, he doesn't go straight home. According to the Wiki article, Dolf's mother died when he was very young and his father became a neglectful alcoholic, so he either didn't go home because he was afraid of his father, doesn't like the atmosphere at home, his father would be cross with him if he knew he was ashamed of his mother, or all of the above. What's more, Dolf had a lot of support despite being a racial purist and did you see the looks on the passengers' faces when Alfred told Winnie on the bus that Waterlanders weren't prejudiced? They looked like they were about do go into cardiac arrest. It seems like it's sort of subtly being implied that Waterland has an unspoken speciesist problem.

If you ask me, Dolf's not what's scary here; what's scary is that a child was allowed to remain in the care of an abusive parent and Waterland society either didn't know or didn't care, the country is awash with militant speciesists, our hero is an illegal duck trafficker, and judging by that nightmare fuel in the opening there is apparently a fleshgait on the loose.

Budget furry Hitpoleon is the least of this country's concerns.

People have a bad habit of turning a blind eye to issues lie that, mostly because it's "not my problem" or sometimes because they don't know what they can do that will actually help. I'm guilty of that too, I think most of us who live stable middle class lives are as we barely scrape by working jobs we hate for the bare minimum needed to survive this world and we have so little we can afford to give while keeping up a lifestyle we find sustainable.

Yeesh I got depressing there, I need princess Pinkie Pie

Well, there's a crow named Jim in 'Dumbo'. I feel like crows can be anything, no matter how "offensive" it might be.

Well, honestly, I don't know what to say. I don't really know if this is to make fun of Hitler or if it is to praise the evil man.

You do realize this is based off an actual show that exists right?

check this:Β www.youtube.com/watch?v=DTIDC4…

It was aΒ Dutch-German-Japanese cartoon series made in the late 80s - shit was a hell of a ride. From an attempt to basically rip off Donald Duck, but also crimp on Tin Tin and whatnot, then... hoo boy
