Description
Moar centaurine crustaceaform Arthropeople. In these forms the "antennae" are simply utilitarian prosthetics attached to truncated stubby stabby arms, yielding primitive fishing poles at top and lightweight rudders for sailboarding and the like at bottom. The original mental image was more spiny lobster than shrimp...I have tons of ideas for more classically lobstaurine variants, I just haven't been able to nail them on paper yet.

how would they they sailboard? they would need a board i assume? I cant really conciliate the crustacean legs with that mode of transportation, i would imagine it with a or streamline bodytype
amazing work as usual

I personally like the shrimp design better. It almost gives it a cool mix with the antennas and the shrimp tail look.

Iβve been trying to get a set of legs right for a character and I think these might be perfect

Oh good, I hope this helps! I've really struggled with the integration of human and crustacean limbs--it seems like it should be a pretty straightforward synthesis, but I've found it unexpectedly challenging. I think you can see here how I've "cheated" by leaving some ambiguity in the jointing and how/where the limbs attach...I guess I was going more for what "feels" right from an aesthetic POV, or leaving my options open for future development.

It walks on four legs, two long forelegs and two shorter back legs, with its segmented tail that resembles something like an alligator or an insect might have. There's a vaguely humanoid torso at the end, like some kind of insectoid centaur, but there's definitely not a human face up there, just a sheath of chitin for the mouth. The mouth is mandibles and sharp teeth hidden behind a set of human incisors. It's got a smaller set of arms with opposable thumbs just underneath the big arms. The big arms end in messes of fingers that look like hooks. There are apparent intubations running along the body in symmetrical loops - they look a bit like tube worm tunnels, and they hide the tentacles. A pair slides out from the front leg, another pair across the shoulders, and four erupt from the structures in the back. Most of the time they're stuffed up into their holes, but when the ichneumon must lay its eggs, they emerge to hold down prey, glue it to walls, or produce more hive material.
