Description
This is all the equipment my band uses. The picture was taken in our drummer's house where we practice. Needless to say, it gets really loud during practice. Haven't heard any complaints yet though, since his house is sort-of secluded. My band's name is Fintan's Tree. The following description is from our Little Reggies band profile:
Punk rock is the cornerstone of our sound, but our goal is to build on that foundation, not rehash it ad infinitum. We try to incorporate heavy-hitting, anthemic punk-rock with haunting, melancholy melodies as seamlessly as possible. For the musicβs skeletal framework, we attempt to write intelligent, poetic lyrics that range from romantic to morbidly introspective.
I (Robert, lyrics and vocals) and my cousin Elijah (guitar) started the band a little less than a year and a half ago. Trent (bass) joined shortly after. We found a drummer and threw together a few generic pop-punk songs for a talent show. We won first place, which boosted our confidence. However, we realized that we wanted to write better songs and spent the next year learning how to become [much] better songwriters. Since then, Charles has become our drummer, and we are currently in the process of recording our first CD titled Thoughts Held Captive which should be out in the next couple months.
My goal is that each song we write will be better, more innovative, and less generic than our last.

Awesome equipment ^___^
And I'm actually glad to hear that there is someone out there that wants to be better songwriters, and not rehash the same stuff over, and over, and over again! I like lyrics a lot, and they usually mean more to me than the "music" part of the song ^___^

thanks. This entire CD has been a learning experience in songwriting. That's cool that you're a lyrics person. So am I. My philosophy is that the lyrics are the skeleton or framework of the song. Therefore, the music should compliment the lyrics, and vice versa. For example, our fastest song on the CD is called Baptisma Incendi, which means Baptism of Fire. It's fast, packed with energy, and never slows down because it's about the constant barrage of fiery trials in life. On the other hand, Skeletons in the Closet Pt. 2 (Torn) is a very dark, brooding song that starts off slow then builds up, reflecting the build up of emotions that finally climaxes in the declaration, "I never stop thinking about you, not even for an instant."

I haven't posted the lyrics to all the songs that are going to be on the CD. And some of the songs I've posted lyrics for aren't going to be on this CD.
Skeletons in the Closet Parts 1 & 2 are on the CD. So is Intervals. In fact, I'm going to go edit that one right now because I've made a few minor changes to it since I posted it. The two other songs on the CD (Baptisma Incendi and Love Triangle) aren't posted here on deviantart - no particular reason; I just never got around to it.
