This is a jar containing a thousand origami cranes that I made a few years ago in grade 11 spring break. It took me less than a week to finish because I was making upwards from 100 cranes a day. At the time, I was personally struggling with my sexuality and ended up wishing that no one would have to feel ashamed or be discriminated against based on their sexual orientation. I layered them into a rainbow, except for the thousandth one which is gold and at the very top. I hope you guys love it as it means a lot to me.Related content

I did this challenge too :3 I hung them all from my ceiling and they annoyed my family! They looked very pretty but I love yours!

Tbh, I'm still kinda embarrassed to admit my unusual gender and sexuality sometimes, and I started really struggling to hide it around 11th grade, too. It's still so frustrating to fight between myself, wanting to both just tell people outright, and hide it and act like I'm "normal."

The jar size is about 10 inches tall by 4.5 inches in diameter and I used paper squares that were approx. 4 x 4 cm.

Due to the thinking of society, it's impossible not to be discriminated, and I do feel sorry for living in such a neanderthal society... hope u'r okay by now. :*

I can see from my "friends", guys or girls... when I told them, they just stopped talking to me, so... Same on the Portuguese comunity... Sad, though.

I've never managed to fold that many cranes, no matter how hard I try! I admire your perseverance, and the end result is lovely. I wish I had my own jar of rainbow cranes to wish on....

Beautiful. Personally I find folding papercranes or any origami really very calming. I foldet ~1000 (never actually counted them) for my mom because she had a stroke in the summer of 2009 and I couldn't quiet help feeling guilty. She's planing to make them into a curtain

Mine are a bit bigger (10cmΒ²) so they wouldn't have fit in a jar^^ and my mom needed a curtain anyway

Either that is a MASSIVE jar or those are some TINY cranes. Otherwise you crammed them in there which it doesn't look like. The couple thousand I made with 3" sheets and strung up take up a couple cubic feet. They also look to just barely fit; please tell me you didn't use the wrong size jar, had to dump and sort them, then try another jar... that would be a pain.

It's a regular sized spaghetti jar and yeah, I got lucky and they all fitted in the first try hahah. The cranes are all made of about 1 and 1/4 inch squares. Thank you btw
