Wow. This could be a photograph. Amazing. Did you figure out all this on your own? Or did you follow a tutorial? A set of tutorials? I'd love to know how you achieved that water effect.

This is a tutorial I followed from BlenderGuru.com. I appreciate the compliments. Still something of a novice, but I have finally started modeling some objects based upon my learnings and have seen some good results. Still have a fear of modeling a human or animal...so that is next.

Heh. Well it looks like we're in the same boat then. I'm a novice as well. Modeling is not a difficulty for me but lighting and rendering are. XC Thankfully, Blender makes both A LOT easier than Maya ever did. I am SO very glad I decided to give Blender a second chance. It has absolutely revolutionized my workflow.

Anyway, good luck and here's hoping I see more great work from you.

This scene got a nice atmosphere! if I may give some constructive criticism, the grass nearest to the camera(center bottom of the pic) is way to crazy in my honest opinion. Otherwise well done!

Thanks for the compliments....I can agree with you on the grass, but I think it is also a mixture of the grass and a reflection. Either way it can be toned down I guess.

Yeah I think your right, the reflection adds to the craziness of the grass By all mean don't feel obligated to change anything, it was just my honest opinion in regards to the grass. Just trying to help but in the end it's up to you, maybe not worth the hassle going back, but atleast now you can keep it in mind unless you were going for that type of grass?

Thanks for the great feedback. I've started looking at POV Ray and Lux Render as alternatives. There is only so much time in a day though. Cycles and Blender internal are convenient enough for now.
