your card didnt support Aero? probably lack of drivers for beta 1..
anyway, I think Aero 5231 looks better than 5365+.. I downgraded my 2nd PC from RTM to this thanks for inspiration.

Yes, there was Aero. Surely it was in 2005 and the early versions looked like crap, even with transparency enabled.

The "true" Aero that exists today debuted in build 5365 I think.

Oh yeah, that Aero. Well, the Aero we see is sort of different I mean, the stripes are less...pixelish and bluer

Look, that screenshot is a skinned windows scheme, or a linux skin over other skin of Win XP...
like others, it is only a skin and cannot bring the REAL functions of the Windows Vista RC1,and I say this because i have the new WinVista RC1 and they Don't have the "Show Desktop" icon like the Windows XP...

I use Linux Fedora 4 series and think it is the best...

Look at the date of this, you moron. This was posted before RC1 was released. This is a screen shot of Windows Vista Beta 1. This was before Aero, before many of the UI refinements, and certainly before they bothered making new icons - and the later releases of Vista absolutely DO have the show desktop icon, I'm looking at it right now as I type this on RTM Build 6000. It's blue with a white border, and sits next to the start button. You really should take the time to figure out what you are commenting on before you start running your ignorant mouth about it.

It most certainly is, my friend. Fedora Core is designed to be easy to use for people who are used to Windows. Especially with Gnome installed. They have a theme called "Redmond", ffs.

I'm not bashing Linux - I love Linux. I use it for almost all of my servers.

It's come a long way in the desktop computing niche, but I'm sorry - it is nowhere near ready to replace Windows. No hardware 3D support for 90% of the video cards on the market, poor multimedia support, and it is quite a chore to get it to cooperate with Windows systems on the same network.

I'm all for Linux becoming a common competitor with Microsoft Windows. But until I can play Half-Life 2 on it at 120 frames per second, and use YouTube -AT ALL-, forget it. It's not ready for desktop use.

Thank you for your wonderfully insightful and intelligent comment.

Oh, look, you know how to use Linux. How special. Fedora Core, no less! Wow! That takes some real effort to install and use, especially when it's designed to look and work just like Windows!

Show me some screenshots of Slax and then I'll be impressed. Till then, have fun with your "transition OS"

My system is not designed to be Windows-like, but to be system for people, not for donkeys.

You got windows vista on beta1? I wasn't sure if it was safe. What was the cost and how much hard drive space did it take up?

i think i'll wait for the final version... don't mind beta but when its a os i don't really wanna end up with a comp that wont run anything or a whole heap of errors.. or some thing like that...

Yeah, Vista looks like the one version of Windows which is actually worth my money. Hear that Microsoft? You might get money from me. Satan just called.. gettin' a little cold down there. Says that violates some sort of contract with Gates or something. Call him, Bill.
