Far into Earth's future, the oxygen content and heat drastically rose. With so much more oxygen, some insects could grow bigger. And one of them is the only known insect to keep pets, have empathy ('put yourself in someone else's shoes or feel pity or concern), and live as individuals with a strong sense of social and civil urges: Bees.

These bees developed from Papua, where some grew big as mice. With almost no predators, some evolved into more of a fruit-eating bird stage, becoming finch sized. As time went on, some grew extremely intelligent, with intelligence equal to a very smart canine, but with the ability to reason, have empathy, create art, and purposely build unique civilzations.

They can mimic almost anything they come across, and have used this "copy" technique to develop a very philosophical set of city states. Modern bees do not have a 'hive mind', but have a powerful sense of family like some people. But every bee is a individual with their own personality, who obey powerful instincts when it comes to family or those they are very familar with. So, bees would become the first very intelligent insect species in evolution.

These bees are large as chihuahuahs. Every individual bee are their own person, but they have a powerful urge when it comes to their hive, like how some people feel about their family, best best friends, or pets. Their ability to have empathy, and contemplate, plus finding fields of mutant marijuana, has caused some individuals to seek higher meaning. They also become bored easily when they aren't working, and thanks to copy crude farming from birds who do it instinctively, they become bored quite often and find the only way to relieve it is to find new and engaging things to do.
This has led to art, languages, building "hive villages", and even doing things that purposely upset them just so they can get the thrill of seeing how long they can do the opposite of what they feel the urge to do. This led to greater thought, grand philosophy, and a popular game that humans would call... "Buddhist-Monk lifestyle".

The queen is a individual herself, and she is not obeyed by all her children, but their instinct to her is like a infants instinct towards their mother. The queen herself is naturally smarter than all her children, but her life of constantly laying eggs, being asleep, or tired, being very easily entertained by almost anything leads to her being the least intelligent in more civilized bee societies. Queens are easily entertained by anything, and usually don't think outside the box. But they are beloved like a celebrity or a mom. Male bees, or drones, have evolved to be very inquisitve, and are usually the ones who ask questions others dont, while the workers and soldiers have the brain power to figure it out.

Since they are so big, these bees dont live in massive hives anymore, but live in very small hives, with one queen, and about 10-15 bees in total. They live in large burrows like meerkats, or can chew trees to be extra homes. But thanks to copying farming, they make all kinds of homes.

They have small stingers, but can spray acid. They also can scream and mimic sounds, which usually works better than stinging when it comes to predators. They speak by "dancing" and stepping. The way a bee steps, moves, turns and sometimes drums their tiny wings, is all a manner of speech. The wings have atrophied to be for nothing else but either communication or cooling themselves by lifting them up in a breeze.

Their cultures are very much like those of New Guinea aborigines and Ainu. They wear big masks and bright colors on their fur when meeting new groups. They walk on all 6 legs, and use their mouths for almost everything.
