Another coat I painted mostly for fun - I rarely paint shetland ponies (and roan horses) and I'm happy about how this one came out!Enjoy!

I can think of quite a few ponies that this reminds me of. This fellas got a lot of personality, not that I'm surprised knowing ponies.

I agree - I've heard a quote "You tell a gelding to do something, you ask a stallion, you discuss it with a mare, and if it's a pony, you pray to the God Almighty". There's a certain truth in it, as majority of times I've been dangerously bucked off I was riding a pony. I'm still learning, and while I met some well trained ponies which are gorgeous steeds who love to work, ponies are also the most cunning horses I ever met, some even seeming vicious because of their intelligence combined with laziness and lack of discipline which all led to dangerous behavior. They should not be underestimated, they have great potential and sometimes even more drive and personality than bigger horses!

The last one I rode was called Shortstack. I referred to him as the Energizer Bunny from Hell.

I think I know that type - I've ridden a pony called Wigor (a direct translation to English'd be Vigour, and it's a fitting name) who had such an acceleration that he sometimes was sliding while trying to reduce speed before a turn and sometimes he just didn't manage to enter it. That being said, he had a very comfortable canter. The worse was a hucul horse I've been riding, he had a nasty habit of trying to buck off anyone who didn't held him short enough during a canter. I've got to ride him while I was learning and I had quite a flight on my way to the ground.

Shortstack was like Wigor. He had a serious need for speed, and once he got going he refused. To. Stop. I had to start wearing my gloves because I was getting blisters from pulling back on the reigns. Started running him in circles to tire him out. Unfortunately he didn't have the greatest stamina. He had a lovely trot, but his canter was hell.
