i'm surprised that cocoon didn't convert her into a Changling...unless that one specifically was only to hold someone....

I don't really support the pony-turning-changeling plot device, I prefer changelings as insectoids which are born like insects... so yeah, that cocoon's purpose was to simply keep her alive (and hold her captive).
