Commodore was not an easy horse to ride. He was fussy and flighty on the best of days and so, so smart. Dangerously smart. No doubt he got that from his dam. Seaborns Sirren was as smart as she was beautiful, and her son was aging into a wicked competitor in the dressage ring. He had all the breeding and potential to become a Grand Prix competitor one day, if only Alex could get his fussiness under control.

But first they needed to compete. They had been training together for the last few years but had never entered an official show. Couple the need to start his career with her and her fiance's new Warmblood stable, and Alex had every reason to enter him into a registration competition. So that's what she did. He handled the show atmosphere well and only stole the barn rake twice before the competition. He didn't even expand his gut very much when she tightened the girth. Alex guided him into the show ring to canter off to "Beethoven's Silence" by Ernest Cortazar.
