OH. But be warned. Because these are conversations between characters, there will some cursing. Nothing too heavy, but shield your eyes if you're sensitive to that kind of stuff.

And also, if you don't know who my characters are, you might be a little lost. Sorry! All info can be found in my Stable Journal , however.

Dear Mr. Ritterson,

I cannot tell you enough how pleased I am to hear that Disfunctional's pregnancy is going well. I am a major fan of that mare and have followed her entire career, from birth to recovery. To know that she is well enough to carry on her greatness to the next generation fills my heart with joy.

I await the birth of the filly with excitement, trepidation, and hope.

Could have sworn you said you would be hear for New Year's. Ling says the horses are still too tired from the Breeders' Cup, so we're giving Reign and Monty the next few months off. Andraste's the only one who still seems to have some fire left in her, so she'll keep training.

Our two-year-olds this season, Withdrawal, Illusion, and Elegance, will start track training tomorrow. Elle doesn't know which end is her nose, much less where to point it to run, but Wit knows what this whole thing is all about. Illusion, on the other hand... Damn horse is worse than Dee, I swear. She's bat-shit crazy, TJ. Ling and I will work with her for the next few months to see if the flutters in her brain can be trained out of her.

Another Thalion colt? I'm so excited! El Diablo and Acute were amazing--still are. And this one looks just like El Diablo? AH! I just know he's going to be just as awe-inspiring as his half-brothers.

I do hope Disfunctional is doing alright. There hasn't been anything in the news, so I have to assume that no news is good news. Can't wait until that foal is born!

However, it saddens me to hear about the trouble among the people of BCC Stables. I hope everything works out for you all.

Where are you? You said you would be home for Danger's labor, but I'm staring at the foal right now and you're not here. He looks so much like Dee, it's frightening.

Andy was shipped to Santa Anita last week and will be starting in a few allowances over the course of this month to keep her from growing too restless. Her next stakes start will be in the Santa Anita Handicap against the boys. Monty's not doing too well. Ling's coming around less and less, and it's affecting him something serious. Reign, likewise, is not his old self. He seems almost... bitter. If that makes any sense. Even Zini is moping around the paddocks.

Illusion has raw talent--when she runs. Most days she just flails around in a ridiculous imitation of Dee's son, Himeros. She's not improved a bit. Elle, on the otherhand, is a dream ride I'm told, but she's too green. Hopefully in a few months she'll figure out what she's supposed to be doing.

Withdrawal, however, is perhaps our next great one. He has such talent and heart, TJ. I wish you could see him.

I read about Disfunctional's labor problems, and I cannot tell you how relieved I am that both her and the foal are alright. My heart was in my throat when I first read of the birth complications. No pictures have made it to the public yet, but I understand the foal looks just like her mom? I am so happy! I just know that baby is something special. Congratulations to all of you!

However, I am heartbroken to learn of Ling Po's resignation. While Miss Griffen may be the heart and soul of BCC's racing division, and you the backbone, Po undoubtedly had a way with the horses. It saddens me to learn that the BCC family is breaking apart because of the stress and press attention.

Really? I used to have to drag you away from the brood barn weeks before the mares' due dates. Now you've missed not one, but two births. Disfunctional's at that. How could you?

She had complications. Nearly died on me. Thank God Doc was there. I don't know what he did, but she pulled through. The filly looks just like her. Stunningly beautiful with the largest brown eyes you ever did see.

...Ling quit, TJ. I don't know what to do. The racing side of things has fallen to shit. Andy won all her races, including the SA Handicap, but it was close. Monty has gone a little crazy in the head. We sent him back to Heartbreak Ridge the moment Ling turned in his resignation papers. His phobia hasn't resurfaced yet and he's still in training, but that's only because Wyatt works with him every day. That creature's heartbroken over Ling. You not being here doesn't help.

I'm so lost. I'm not about to call in someone knew to handle our beasts, but I'm not a trainer, TJ. I can only do so much.

Please come home soon. If you don't, there won't be much home left.
