Description
My graduation work from last year, inspired by the decay of man-made things and including a research of how to use Japanese lacquer (urushi) on metal. I posed myself the task to make a "wearable sculpture", drawing heavily from the visuals of a long abandoned fish packing plant in Djupavík, Iceland, which I visited in the summer of 2010 and which never quite left my mind after that. I wanted to capture the morbidly fascinating visuals of something falling apart and being turned back into a part of the natural environment, dwelling on thoughts of how everything in this world is interwoven, how without death there can be no life.
