There's... uh, not much more to say. Hope you like it. Or at least that you like elephants.

Okay, so here's something about elephants for all you elephant fans. When they were filming the Oliphaunt (or Mûmakil, if you prefer) scene in Return of the King, the filmmakers wanted a great thunderous footfall sound effect for the steps of these giant critters. So they thought, "Hey, let's go out and record some real elephants walking around and crank up the volume. That'll add a touch of authenticity."

The Weta workshop team went to the zoo with their recording equipment, and discovered to their surprise that elephants make almost no noise when walking. Their padded feet render the fooftalls of the multi-ton animals quieter than those of the average human. So they had to do something else to get their thunderous footfall sound.

Elephants: they're like ninjas, only bigger.
