Personally I think there needs to be more follow-through... we're taught to aim for a spot past the board, so that we chop through it, not just at it. I feel like he should stop with his hand down off-screen and bent over to compensate for the reach, and have more of a bend in the arm as he's putting force into the chop. IMO, anyway.
I like how you thought to add the splinters flying up.

I REMEMBER THIS i remember me and my big brother playing mortal combat 1 on his x-box and he would press idk the b button multiple times and i would go TEST YOUR MIGHT TEST YOUR MIGHT TEST YOUR MIGHT! XD this brings back memories
