Description Made for the group Art-Jamz, theme was 'ancient Japan'. When I read the title, I immediately remembered I book I read some years ago, in which a Japanese painter plays a major role. His name was Hokusai, if I've done my internet-research correctly, and he's the author of the famous woodblock printing The Great Wave Off Kanagawa. I've heard he loved the volcano Fuji so much he put it in every painting he made; here it is the cracks in the cup. I picked tea because of Japanese tea ceremony tradition, which I know very little about, so I hope I haven't messed something up majorly. I colored the tea with actual tea - my room smelled very good afterwards

The originalΒ woodblock printing can be found here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Gre…

Ooooh, what a wonderful piece! I really like how you re-interpreted Hokusai's wave, it looks nice, minimalistic and clean, I love the blooms of the water colour, they fit your subject very nicely. The warm-cold contrast turned out very nice, too.

I can really tell you put a lot of effort and time into the composition and vision of this piece, it really shows.Β

Tea painted with tea, you witty little thing, you Awesome!!

Thank you so much for the comment and the fav! Tea is great to work with, I haven't yet been able to mix watercolors in that color, although it takes a little longer to dry. Again, thanks a lot

I think I found the idea somewhere online - apparently some people even paint with coffee, but my precious caffeine is not going on paper
