Description
I know this isn't much, but it's what's been bothering me a lot lately. When I looked at some of the faces in my recent submissions, they all looks so emotionless. I've especially been having some trouble drawing female faces. So I started sketching traditionally, made some studies of Mucha's paintings, studied some of the concept art of Elizabeth from Bioshock Infinite (which together with portal 2, are the best games I've ever played (which also has amazing concept art)), studied actual faces, other concept art and other stuff. I usually draw male faces and caricatures of them, so I didn't have too much trouble with that (not saying my drawings of male faces are perfect either). So my main focus was to draw decent female faces and give them expression to make them more believable. As well as drawing some male characters believable expressions.

After traditional try-outs I started to do some digital painting and see if I could reproduce what I'd learned. This is the result!
