Description
Here's the full body design I made of a movie style Soundwave. Photoshop.Had a lot of fun working on this design. I got a lot of feedback from other Transformer fans that helped me decide what this design should look like. This, of course fan made and has nothing to do with the TF movie. Just having fun trying to find a balance between the movie style and retaining as many classic visual cues of the character as possible.

This just maybe needs just a little more uniqueness in the way the chest opens. Other than that itβs perfect. The look in the new bumblebee is too g1. The designs donβt have to be so literal or exactly like the sorce material. Otherwise itβs a little cheesy and not realistic. This is on just the right level of being true to the character but still have that alien tech anotomic realism with some originality.
i dint have a against g1. Thigh I didnβt grow upon the very first series. I did grow up on armadaand that was just as blocky. But to much of that doesnβt work in a realistic sense. Though these are called robots in disguise,itβs for lack of a the better term. These are inorganic shapeshifting metal lifefirmd. So they need to make more anatomical sense in a way. The armor needs to be more like its part of a functional living metal body.
Im not blind to the faults bay had and how he messed things up. But the crew that worked with him did some things good. Optimus still looked like Optimus. Megatron was awesome. His second movie look next to his tlk look were closest to his g1 look but in an original fashion. Heβs a silvery transformer with legs made from treads, a helmet head and a right arm mounted canon. So the second look was actually relatively closest in regards to the tank form and treads. Shockwave just needed his purple coloring to be more visible and his personality needed to be like who he was supposed to, but thatβs all.
All that matters is they follow the distinctive visual ques and traits to stay true to the characters. For example Shockwave is a faceless purple cycloptic cybertronian with an arm mounted canon and has a cool vizor like formation on his chest plate. That can be interpreted in so many ways alone. So with all this said I hope they change the g1 designs by the next film and make them more original, but stillstay true to their characters. This picture above is a great example of what they should do.

The only thing I personally don't like is his wrists look too skinny. Other than that, this is phenomenal.

That is quite awesome, the head design stands out the most. Notice a lot Ironhide bits though

I think Ratchet arms would fit better because your Soundwave is a Armored Truck(?) and the deisgn would seem more plausible if the arms came from the back of a Search/Rescue Hummer rather than a Topkick pick-up. Nevertheless, your photoshhop job was brilliant.

This is probably the best Soundwave I have seen. Good Job! Is there anyway to get it without the letters overtop? I want to add it to my favourites, and I think it would look better without the words overtop of Soundwave. If you can't do this, it's fine with me, I'll still add it to my favourites.

I LOVE Soundwave. He's looks excellent. I would only change the colors a bit, but I'm just a fan of that navy/white contrast he has. Your gallery has spoiled me, I'm going to forever hate the live action designs for Bay's movie.

Soundwave is so cool. I was a little bummed that he wasn't in the movie, but it worked out well anyway.
I think the Balkan is an awsome pick for Soundwave and he still looks like how he did in the G1 series.

Speaking of asking to use this design, my friends and I are going to create something of an animated sequel to the movie for a webshow we are still working on. Though he won't appear for quite some time, would you mind us using this completely awesome design as Soundwave's?
